My gut feeling is that a release clause does exist, and that Villa’s owners were doing what John Henry did with Suarez and Arsenal’s £40,000,001 bid. In other words, denying the clause unless Grealish pushed it.

I might be wrong, but I think it will around £85 million. Shall we have a sweepstake?

Think it'll be £80-85m with attainable add-ons to take it to £100m.

Villa unlike spurs don't need the money upfront.
