I'm sure they do. That picture of him with the other Paris players spoke a thousand words?

Laporta even aimed a swipe at their business earlier this summer.

I'm going for a lie down, longest drive for a couple years and need a sleep!!
Its even sad that he is going paris. Better was when he was at barca.

No not from ANY team! He fucked us over twice and gullible people on here want round three! If he's such a nice person he would stay put and play for peanuts if need be! Barcelona helped him as much he helped them it's not a one way street, After all Barcelona brought him yo through the academy sorted his family out financially and a house along with a car along with numerous other things. He decided by the looks of things to move to PSG for a miserable €40m a year, God love him having to move I'd say he's devastated.
Pissed off him being made out like Mr.Nice Guy when he's far from it.
He's a using piece of shit.
Yes from any top team. He was paid hundreds of millions by Barca because he earned them BILLIONS. He’d have earned the same at any top club. You need to stop being quite so hysterical. Terms like “he’s a user..” are beyond cringe. This isn’t Jeremy Kyle, he’s a professional footballer.

I am very surprised to see Messi moving to PSG. This will only lower his status and hurt his legacy . From being a Barcelona legend to winning UberEats league (which with all due respect has zero competition and extremely low coverage). Winning PL/CL >> winning la liga & serieA/CL >>>>>>> winning UberEats/CL.

Funny (peculiar) situation developing. Surreal, almost.

Messi has spent a lot of his renewal times flirting with City. Now he gets the chance to join, he eyeballs PSG instead?

We, obviously, don't have any exclusive rights to him, but ffs! Seems like all the previous flirtations was posturing.

If City have now knocked him back as we have other irons in the fire, then I stand corrected.

Or knocked him back after all his previous flirting, wasting our time and the fact he only is moving is because he has to rather than wants to.

Who won the French league last year?

I don't think the suits would have been that quick to dismiss the notion of him coming to City. It was literally hours after the Barca news dropped that rumours started of City not being interested.

Even a cursory meeting would have happened with Messi Snr.

Maybe Messi camp, and City suits, have known about this for far longer than is being let on.

Maybe we are truly spuds deep in with Kane that we are not now willing to change the plan.

Strange days, though!

Having been forced to leave Barca I don't think his heart will be in it wherever he ends up. His mental state will be at level zero. He has virtually been kicked out of the club he loves and has been at since being a young boy, blamed for being a big part of why the club is on its knees, having to move home and family at short notice or work away and travel to see them, finally he doesn't get to play with his long time friend. How would your work ethic be if all that happened to you? It will be a long time before we see the old Messi and time is one commodity he doesn't have.

Can't believe tracked him all last summer tried to entice him here even contemplating paying a huge transfer fee to sweeten deal with Barca but now he's on a free agent we're just letting him slip through our hands.
The club don’t let anybody mess them around. If players say no then that’s their perogative and we move on. Messi alone was worth 2 attempts but it doesn’t sound as if we are willing to try a third time. Any supporter, of any team, would want the GOAT in their colours. There has to be a limit to how much Messi-ng around we will put up with though.

nah, he'll be paid handsomely to play the game and will also have a much better shot at another cl there than in barcelona

Ask every sports related individual. They don't say who won the French league last year. They say who lost the French league last year. Lol.
One club seems to dominate French club football but their league has one significant advantage and that's am African talent pool. Think of Zidane, Mahrez,George Weah, Mbappe. France is the entry point for African immigrants. Spain taps South America, France taps Africa.

Think of Lyon and Monaco who caused us problems. Monaco are a strange side. I think they had a very rich owner who financed them for a while but they have no fanbase and he was pouring money into a blackhole and got fed up.

I am not interested in Messi the footballer because its obvious that his best days are behind him but the interests of City Football Group worry me. He would have extraordinary appeal for City Football Group. The sooner he is tied down to PSG the better. Part of me would like to see him in a City shirt but my brain says no Way! There lies footballing disaster. We would have to play for him because he has extraordinary ability but it takes too much from the side to make it work. Some City fans look at Messi, look at his wiki page and look at his goals but they don't realise the extraordinary cost to the side. Barcelona finished 3rd in the weakest Spanish League for ages. They struggled to get out of their group and were thrashed by a PSG side who are not at their peak either. I watched Barcelona in the CL games. They were pathetic and so was Messi. Completely powerless and they were sitting ducks. Recalll Chelsea v Atletico and Man Utd v Real Sociedad. Their league is struggling now.

What we should do, and what every Premier League club is no doubt doing is run our eye over all of Barcelona's squad. For example, Memphis Depay. He's an improving player imo and would score a lot of goals.

I don't understand the Spanish club crisis but Pep, Soriano and Txiki hail from Barcelona. Soriano used to be their CEO. Of course they know very well about what is going on. We may have been caught out though. Barcelona themselves don't seem to have seen it coming as they've spent months trying to sign Messi to a new contract.
