Harry Kane

Imagine you’re Harry Kane, you’ve offered great service to your club, you have an agreement with the chairman that you can leave if a certain price is offered, and you know that price is going to be offered by a club that almost guarantees winning things, and gives you the opportunity to play for the best manager in the game and alongside some of the best footballers in the world. So you allow yourself to get mentally prepared for an exciting new phase in your career, only to be stitched up by an absolute **** of a boss who reneges on the verbal agreement and costs you your dream move. You looking forward to the new season? You feeling motivated to win things for Spurs? You proud to captain the side and happy that you’re at a club that treats it’s players well? I think not. We’ll be fine, we won’t abandon him, but at some stage we’ll have to move on to other targets. Be great if we could sign Kane, but losing out on him isn’t a disaster for us. Doubt Kane will be overly amused though.
By all accounts Levy has already demonstrated he's more arsed about Spurs than Kane. As long as Levy has a contract with Kane's signature on it, gentlemen's agreements, or what's morally right or wrong don't matter.

The legal basis is Kane has a contract. Spurs must weigh up what Kane brings to Spurs, against how much that is worth on the open market, but more crucially, how much it will cost to replace Kane's goals. That ain't gonna be cheap, hence Levy happy to play hardball.

What’s City’s reaction to this?

No idea. The fact Spurs are touting wiggle room, however, suggests a deal is there to be done.

Would also explain the contradiction between Kane's camp being told Spurs will let him leave, and Levy dragging his heels.

I see it being signed off a couple days after we play each other.

That stance has changed in the last 48 hours.

Spurs will accept a reduced base figure but the add-ons are very achievable.

Would take it closer to what they want, but if we win the Champs League, we would be happy to pay it, anyhow.

They also want a scoring bonus.

130 plus 30 in add ons I reckon, do you reckon this gets done? it’s a positive Levy is negotiating

Something like...

£120M starter +

£2m for every golden boot with us
£2.5m if Kane wins Ballon d'or
£5m if Kane breaks Shearer record with us
£5m if We win the CL
£10m if we win the quadruple
£12.5m if we win the Quadruple undefeated

So we're to believe that we would enter a negotiation that includes Spurs benefitting from every goal Kane scores for City?
I don't do gifs or memes or whatever the fuck they're called but imagine there's more than a few suitable ones for this level of bollocks.

I wrote the same thing yesterday. Real Madrid 2021 is not Real Madrid of Ronaldo Bale and Benzema who won 4 CL in 5 years. Real can not win the Champions League with their current squad, the Spanish league is no longer as prestigious and strong as it was with Ronaldo and Messi. Real have huge debt so I don't see more WC players join, Zidane is not there. Why would he prefer to play there rather than in City?
I concede they’re not the Club of recent times, but they still have enormous pulling power. Realistically, Real Madrid could next summer get Haaland and Mbappe for a combined £75m, that’s a frightening thought.

Uh-huh.

Anyway, they are. Chelsea are a top-class team with a top-class defence and a top-class manager. They're literally the Champions of Europe. The only glaring hole they have right now is Werner not being a clinical striker - adding Lukaku is a fantastic move for them that could catch the gap to us up if we don't make a similar one. But don't worry about that, we've got a meme format that no-one outside of football forums has used in seven years. You could always do the Scarface cocaine one next? Maybe crack out that crying-baby one from Facebook, that's a good-un.
Piece of advice, fella. If the thought of another team signing a player is 'bone-chilling', I'd reevalute my life.

But now I think about it, maybe it's me that needs to reevaluate my life after all? An anonymous, edgy guy on the internet has just told me what's not cool to post. And I really thought I was down with the kids.

Well they will win nothing without the goals from Kane, if he stays they will win nothing with the goals from Kane, hard dissision.
My point exactly. We as City fans need to look at it from Spur's point of view, not merely our own. It comes as no surprise Levy couldn't give a shit about how this affects us & Kane.

He sells, he loses Kane's goals. He refuses to sell, Kane's goals weren't enough for a top 4 finish anyway, so it looks like he's damned if he does, & damned if he doesn't.

If I were Levy, I'd hold out for the highest price imaginable & would already be sourcing 2-3 players to replace Harry's goals & add extra depth to the squad. However, the 2-3 types of players he needs to make a difference will easily slurp up £150m in today's market.
