Let me make an analogy to professional wrestling, so bare with me.

There was a wrestling company in the 1980s owned by Ted Turner called WCW. Wrestling was essentially a live event business model no different from a concert and the objective was to promote storylines that would want people to buy a ticket to watch the conclusion of those stories. There was this guy called Sid Vicious - big guy, looked like a mean bastard, but he was all talk and wasn't a very good wrestler. There was another guy called Arn Anderson, shorter guy but he understood crowd psychology and was a great wrestler.
You see if they heavily promoted Sid Vicious into a main event type role then they would do a massive crowd, probably make a million dollars in one night but 3 months later nobody would care about him whereas Arn Anderson would never draw that crowd but he would make the company consistent good money for 20 straight years. They chose Sid Vicious. They were bankrupt two years later.

I feel like the British media have done this. They have taken the big money now by being sensationalist but in doing so have lost the trust of the public that could have kept them in business for decades to come. Once that trust is lost in a media organisation then it never comes back and they have to go more and more sensational over the years just to stand still.
Getting Taylor Dane vibes from that first line….

….you don’t have to take your clothes off…

700 comments of which a very large number were poisonous and libellous on the Guardian's Manchester City preview. Pleased to say that few blues got involved. I cancelled my account ages ago but monitor what this media enemy says. Never have rivals supporters been so inflamed as they are now. I wouldn't mind but it has consequences. It won't be long until there are acts of violence against City fans because of media vilification, and anyone who sticks his head up against the parapet can be targeted. It is more effective to boycott the corporate media particularly those who lead the campaign against us.

I can report that the Guardian print circulation has fallen 30% in two years and taken with subscriptions is now hovering at about 105k per day. Sadly I suspect their digital business is thriving. They are though on borrowed time because at some point a major rival will go on to their digital turf and their revenues will crash. Tiny digital presences like the Telegraph, TImes, Mail etc don't count. These websites are deliberately minor to avoid cannibalising their existing print business. At some point, one of them will go all into digital. Guardian will be first but others will inevitably follow and then what happens? Hopefully some democratisation? Why should only big media be successful? Maybe niche experts will thrive. If for example you want to know about science, you don't go to a newspaper. I suspect its the same for stuff like technology, or music. FOr sport. There are specialist sites e.g., Bluemoon. Coproprate media can be jack of all trades for now but will that last?
I thought the Dail Heil was one of the largest news websites in the world as it receives around two million hits a day

Watching Sky news bearded twat called Tim Montgomery reviewing the papers in front of a picture of a crowd approaching OT. Don't know who he is but doesn't sound like a Manc he is described as a conservative commentator . A rag and a Tory what a c**t.

Not watching it, but if is the guy, I am thinking of, he is the founder/editor of Conservative Home and I think he used to have a rag season ticket... but I could be wrong.

I see sky had the chuckle buttheads on the transfer show. Discussing Messi & PSG but somehow managed to accuse MCFC of being a state owned club who pay lawyers to circumvent ffp.

I think the club need to start communicating with the fans as to what action is being taken against these slanderous accusations with no legal base.

Constant barrage of lies peddled by sportwashing journalists to suit their corporate agenda. Disgusting.

It's bloody irritating I will admit, and it does have me shouting, at times, towards the radio or TV. I read a post on here some time ago, might even have been last seasons media thread which I sort of agree with even though I have no evidence to support what was said in the post, except what I continually read on here where fans comment about it happening. It went along the lines of..... The club aren't that arsed about the constant stream of lies spouted by the media. They are business people who get on with running our club in a professional manner. They don't want, or need, the distraction of several (a lot) of law suits against journalists or media corporations to get in the way of them doing what they so best, which is run our club. The more I see comments such as yours, the more I believe this is true. Therefore whilst it annoys me at times I then just consider this stance and think to myself that if the club don't mind these idiots and simple folk, who chat shit like they have some inside line on the club, so why should I. The damage is done with rival fans and clubs, nothing is going to change that narrative now, so fuck em, enjoy their salty tears and don't get wound up by it

If the club take action they'll shout about suppression and typical of our owners blah blah blah.

How the club communicate with fans about the action they are taking is by signing the like of Grealish for 100m and of course winning trophies. That hurts them even more.

I saw this earlier as it was repeated and I was gobsmacked. Even for these clowns it was a new low. I think the really gobby one who looks like someone who cons people out of their pension funds, said, "This is what the rest of football has to compete with, state owned clubs like PSG and Manchester City and it's just not possible, it's a real problem." He then went on to say we had very good lawyers who can circumnavigate the ffp rules.

The club might just want to ignore this but the damage it has done and is still doing is probably now beyond repair because they have ignored it for too long. Ask any one of us who go to games and pubs if it's just drivel that we should ignore, when we are constantly under verbal and at times physical attack due to the hatred towards our club and those associated with it, due to the lies these wankers peddle constantly. They have and are continuing to brainwash a nation that we are state owned cheats that have had all our success through unfair means. In other words we have also cheated their clubs out of success that could have been theirs and we must be stopped at all costs. It is the biggest mistake the club has made since the takeover allowing these people to peddle their lying filth.

City's lawyers must surely know if we have a nailed on case to sue, whether it be slander or liable ?
It makes me wonder why we wouldn't go for someone it that were the case and I can only conclude that it's either simply not worth it in the eyes of our board or they just can't be arsed !
I just can't help thinking that if we went to town on one individual or organisation it might put a stop to a lot of this shit or at least make them think twice etc ?

Thought I might as well join in.

Nice article on the BBC sports football page about how important it is to have a good start and showing the percentage of teams who have won the league when top in Sep, Oct, Nov and Dec. Quite interesting in a way. There are two pictures accompanying the story........now you'd think it would be the Champions or the team who have won 3 out of the last 4 titles....it's Liverpool!

They had a good start last year, how many points behind did it end up?

He's also from Salisbury. That picture is probably the closest he's ever got to a rainy match day in Trafford
