I would say every other LB in the PL is better than Mendy and that's just a fact.

And how people can take the piss out of Shaw, when we have Mendy is beyond me.

The Mendy situation is sad, but it has gone on far too long, he is simply not good enough, free him, pay him off and move along.

The 'hidden gem' was Zinchenko. Knows the system, can play inside, very technical, v good passer; improved his heading last season along with his positional play.

Mendy is awful. Full stop. The first job of a left back is to defend. He gets rinsed every time against decent players. He offers nothing offensively. Kolorov was the best left back we had recently. Mendy walking with the ball antics today was immature and for that alone he should be bombed out the starting 11.

True that, we don’t even need a worldie, even an unspectacular but solid 7/10 LB specialist like Bertrand or Creswell would improve our squad options massively if they replaced Mendy. We should bin him off to Troyes on loan - though he probably wouldn’t be good enough for them either

Why is Mendy still here? Can't we ship him out? NYCFC, I am sure he would love it out there.

Some transfers simply don't work out, admitting the mistake it seems is hard in this case, why?

In all fairness, we were all prepared to throw him out with the bath water and sell him to the Wolves. His refusal to budge and his belief in himself are the main reasons we’ve benefited.

We've gone through Delph, Mendy, Danilo, Angelino, Cancelo and Zinchenko - 2 of those are/were converted midfielders, one didn't want to stay and was expensively replaced by another and one was deemed not good enough. One has been injured extensively and is not up to the required standard after costing a huge fee.
A problem position that has existed for over 5 years but now looks in need of urgent attention.
