The anti-vaxers are packed face-to-face and aren't wearing masks. Many appear to be 50 years old plus. How many in that crowd will ironically be dead of COVID a year from now?

The mortality rate I'd seen posited about a year ago was 1-in-100.

The population pictured though appears to be older and thus more susceptible to poor outcome. On the other hand, assuming hospitalization is available, that's likely to cut down on mortality too.

Still - I'd guess that say 80% aren't vaccinated; say 50% of the unvaccinated catch covid within the next 3 years or so; and say 1% of those in the crowd that catch COVID, die. So we're at .8 x .5 x .01 = 4 in 1000 or so.

So yeah, not many will die - and because death from COVID is relatively low - it's still easy to dismiss the disease as a hoax or not very serious... just as one might infer from your remarks.

Yes, that's how I see it - there will always be a different 'plausible' reason available to avoid inconvenient truths.

Vaccinated folk can catch and spread covid. In fact there’s reports that with the delta variant the viral load is equal and they spread it as much as unvaccinated folk. The vaccine serves a purpose but is not the be all and end all it was advertised as. Hopefully as time goes on it’ll become better as they learn more.

I’m guessing here, but the main difference is that Muslim terrorists are driven by a belief in a world where their one way of belief is the only true way, and that they’ve been called by a higher power to fight for it against those who oppose it, and that to die for God is glorious in pursuit of that better world, as is killing and maiming for God. It is a mission to change all.

The American terrorists are spoiled, frightened infants who don’t have the faintest sense of how lucky they are to live in this country compared to the vast majority of the rest of the world, but whose narcissism won’t allow him/her to be ignored or ridiculed by famous comedians or some reporter or other “elite” for being an uneducated hick, and thus must demonstrate his or her “true power” by holding a large weapon or doing whatever feasible to “own the libs.” It is a mission to have someone pay attention to them.

here in oz it's nearly Donald who and give it another 3 years and he will be remembered much more for his tv appearances when he used to host a couple of shows.

Some of the advice he got while in office was sound but he shouldn't take any of the credit for having it implemented.

I’m not impressed by Biden of late in respect of events in Afghanistan and he deserves criticism but I think some of your comments re his abilities are a bit off to be honest. Dementia isn’t a laughing matter

Conservatives have a real problem because they own the former President lock, stock and barrel no matter how much they want to deny it and take a dump on him now with 20/20 hindsight (how convenient, eh?). To avoid owning up to their participation in the biggest blunder in electoral history (or their tacit support of it if they aren’t American), they deflect with lame criticisms about the victor, which in turn renders their perspective on what the victor should actually be legitimately criticized for impotent. The handcuffs of hypocrisy are very tight ones, and the ball gag should be just as tight. If you can’t mea culpa when you fuck up, why should anyone listen to your perspective now?

Also, I haven’t met an old geezer yet who hasn’t criticized some other old geezer for having dementia.
