It would have been impossible for him to play for barcelona for free, la liga rules state a players wages in a new deal can't be more than 50% less than the last Contract. Messi was crying his eyes out the other week because he “had to” leave Barça. But when you look at what Barça have done for him, how much they’d given him in wages previously, he could have come out and said “I love this club so much I’m going to play for free”. But he’s such a weasel, he lead Barça on for two years, used City which meant we missed out of Kane last Summer, and then fucked them off as soon as he could.
