Ronaldo aside, we seriously need to do some internal assessing of our transfer policies. Too many times this has happened now, if not for having a world class manager it would of seriously stung us, potentially leaving said manager with no recognised striker whilst all of our rivals strengthen is criminal.

Pep came across as managing expectation, whilst also distancing the club from any breakdown of a deal.

Shifting the onus on to the player deciding, gave us all we needed to know.

"It won't be our fault" - it smacks of damage limitation and at least knowing United have made a counter offer of some description.

Never have happened, if they were serious. Someone would let Utd know our bid was going in, for sure. Probably Mendes or one of many others. Then what? Mendes gets Ronaldo to sign before looking at any other option? Could happen, but it's unlikely. There's literally no reason for them not to tease out as many options as they can.
