The idiocy (and selfishness) of panic buying

BP used to employ tanker drivers directly. They were on good money and had access to the very good company pension scheme. They were always up for an extra delivery and a bit of overtime. Now, they employ agency drivers who owe no loyalty to the company, often have a second job to go to and so can’t take the overtime. A case, perhaps, of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing?
Were using Stobart's changed to Hoyer pay and conditions have taken a hit since they got rid of the directs.

Should have employed more British drivers and made the job better. If you rely on labour that can bugger off at a drop of a hat that's bad management.

They thought the perfect combination of pay low earn high would last forever. This was discussed prior to the original vote. It was laughed off. Tough shit enjoy the queue. Stuck in your vehicle earning nowt is the ultimate irony. Now you have a brief glimpse into a truck drivers life.

Embrace it you may see your family at some point.
Did you see the interview?

Would that be the Road Haulage Association that's funded by and works on behalf of the employers by any chance. Can't understand them being interested in cheap labour to drive down wages.

I think people need to make their minds up, do they believe in oppression of workers where the answer is if you don't like it fuck off and do something else or not? People are all over the place.

If lorry drivers choose to work for shite companies as suggested and now we have a shortage then they are doing precisely what they are suggesting and fucking off. If a care worker who has to travel on a bus from one patient to another for 4 hours pay for a 12 hour shift I presume they should also fuck off.

All this is great if that's what you want just don't have a mard if you have no fuel, have beans on toast for Xmas Dinner and have your demented mother sat in their own shit or getting backhanders from staff on minimum wage. Fucking hypocrites.

See it how you want. I see a thread about greedy individuals hijacked by people who are prepared to twist everything into us leaving the e.u. ........despite all the available evidence to the contrary

I've highted it twice for you just in case you miss it. Joint first place for the reason behind the driver shortage from a survey of 615 companies

Ffs. I fully accept there is a shortage of HGV drivers but for your information this thread is not about goods being delivered or tescos having no foie gras.
This thread is about BP not having enough drivers and 5, that's FIVE petrol stations ran out if fuel. FIVE on the entire country, all owned by BP.
This led to stupid greedy selfish dicks rushing out and filling their cars with fuel they didn't need.

BP have about 1200 petrol stations, approximately 8000 in total in the uk so not exactly a doomsday scenario even if it was 100 petrol stations temporarily closing is it.

I said dry not shut. 100 stations had problems and that was on the Thursday before Friday had even began
But it was one firm. It has been explained on here how they fucked over their drivers. Supermarkets had no problem until the idiots appeared, nor did anyone else
