Spot on. What we're getting from grealish in that position is a typical, lacking in confidence, safe, sterling left wing performance with a brilliant first touch but no pace. There's no planet where that better option than Foden. He's electric and one of the few who makes something happen instead of just waiting for somebody else to do it. Grealish needs to sit on the bench watch foden do what he does then take that in and find himself a position in the side elsewhere if he doesn't want to be a £100 million foden leg saver.

That's a poor post, in line with those you write in the Rodri thread.

Grealish had created more chances than any player from open play in the 5 big leagues before today, despite us having the most difficult fixtures from the start of the season. He'll be wonderful for us.

Agree. I feel like I’m watching a different player. Norwich, Chelsea, Arsenal and Leipzig grealish was really good.

Wasn’t but his first touch is brilliant. Nothing against Grealish but Foden offers absolutely miles more down the left. Probably our best attacking midfielder going forwards though and that includes KDB. Foden is ridiculously good. Grealish wouldn’t match Mahrez numbers wise from the opposite side.

Philip Walter “Ronnie” Foden is now the star player at Manchester City!

And now I’m going to criticise him haha

Even with being this unbelievably talented player he’s reached to be so far, he’s got a hell of a lot of improving to do. The main things are with the timing of his shots and his shot placement selection.

He’s scored some beautiful and thunderous goals, and took his goal brilliantly today. But if you look at that shot today after the mesmerising run and set-up by Bernardo; Phil’s got to his it first time! The extra touch wasn’t what was required. There were also games like away in Paris last season and at home to Dortmund, where he was taking multiple shots on too early or taking an extra touch and shooting too late, or shooting at the wrong part of the goal.

But if/when he works on those things (Frank Lampard said he used to stay behind training for hours practising his shooting), you’re taking about someone who is going to win the Balon D’Or. He’s that good!

I fucking love him, so glad he’s a Blue!

Great post.

I only managed to catch glimpses of the game, but boy was he impressive when I saw him.

Fwiw, I think at City we have generally two kinds of player. "Pep-ball" players who play that way you'd typically associate with Guardiola football. And then those less "Pep-ball" guys who are skilled enough to adapt but have outrageous abilities (particularly in the direct sense) that Pep will rank above even his own style. Aguero, Walker, De Bruyne, and Dias are guys like that.

I think Foden has that very unique combination of fitting both categories. Like Messi and Neuer had.

Foden has arrived on the big stage , no doubting his talent but now he is influencing the big , big games , Grealish has done well but the wide left position belongs to Phil at the moment , he will develop into a "number 10" similar to Merlin and Messi he is that good.

he arrived last season. Best player in a lot of our biggest games

I agree but I thought Allison played it perfectly tbf to him

He's just class. Every game he plays he makes something happen. We are so lucky to have a generational player like him come through our academy. I think by the time he hangs up his boots he will be talked of as the best player to ever play for City.

Superb. a great performance.

Needs to stop being so honest though and go down.
He will probably go the same way that Sterling has done. He didn't get the calls that he should have gotten. Then, he got the calls he deserved. He started to get the penalties from the light touches. Now, he is not getting any.

Beyond skills and pace, he seems to have the magic touch. He has shown it at Anfield, last and this season.

The best player England has ever produce, he is better than Gaza and the fat granny shagger.

Shows up in every big game.

little worried theres no news on a new contract
