The Conservative Party

of course he does - pray for MP's folks

I actually agree with him. For the simple reason we need MPs who can not be financially influenced.

Attacks on MPs wages and the number of MPs present in the house are an establishment attack on democracy, even Tories accept you pay low wages you get low staff standards, so pay the people who actually make decisions on our behalf enough that they can do so without being concerned about taking a bung from a rich **** looking for influence.

Also cutting down on the number of MPs restricts a constituents access to direct democracy because the chances of seeing their MP are less as they have far more constituents

On another note, i would have two MPs per constituency, a man and a woman representing each. Our Parliament is only limited because i its current form it was started to be built in 1837 , finished 1860.

The houses of Parliament could quite easily be left to serve as a museum and the entrance fees could help fund a purpose built modern Parliament for 1352 MPs somewhere near Eccles.

couldn't disagree with you more - greed is a disease like gambling or alcoholism - you pay them more they will want more as you massage their ego more - look around the world wealthy people are still influenced by ever more wealthy people to do their bidding

Gas up - and up again in spring - leccy in short supply - UC uplift cut - council tax to rise - inflation 4% plus - empty shelves - petrol/diesel shortages - 40k new Covid cases per day - record number of kids of school kids off school coz of Covid........ Tories down in the polls - Johnson tanking in the polls - he is like OGS - I hope they stick with him

Last nights QT audience was majority Leave voting and they have a Tory MP - the hostility towards Brexit consequences and the Govt should be sending shivers down the spines of people in Downing street today..... well those who have spines that is.

I agree on the salary part. They should be paid far more annually but there should also be a complete ban on holding other positions while serving. There should also be a grace period after service where they are still paid from the public purse but forbidden from fulfilling private functions.

Like the idea of dual MPs. The whole system of representation requires overhaul, and the pandemic should end the ludicrous practice of MPs deserting the House on Thursdays for surgeries/long weekends. If they rotated, one serving the constituency one week in Parliament the next, they might not be so estranged from those they represent, and they might actually get more done. Digital voting would be a start.

working 9 to 5 like normal people would be a start - oh wait the mornings are when they do their other jobs

What a good post that is.

Have worked with members of both Labour and tory , I might not have agreed with their policy's but could not fault their work ethic

To be fair, there was a time when their expense abuse allowed them to maintain moats. Now, they can barely maintain ponds.
Expense abuse was not limited to Tories
