I actually agree with him. For the simple reason we need MPs who can not be financially influenced.
Attacks on MPs wages and the number of MPs present in the house are an establishment attack on democracy, even Tories accept you pay low wages you get low staff standards, so pay the people who actually make decisions on our behalf enough that they can do so without being concerned about taking a bung from a rich **** looking for influence.
Also cutting down on the number of MPs restricts a constituents access to direct democracy because the chances of seeing their MP are less as they have far more constituents
On another note, i would have two MPs per constituency, a man and a woman representing each. Our Parliament is only limited because i its current form it was started to be built in 1837 , finished 1860.
The houses of Parliament could quite easily be left to serve as a museum and the entrance fees could help fund a purpose built modern Parliament for 1352 MPs somewhere near Eccles.
