Any past or present City player everybody seems to rate but you don't

Oh and kolarov, lethargic at the best of times and bottled many a tackle in the coner, no wonder blocks 119-120 gave him pelters many games. Lazy fucker

De Jong is one for me. He had cult hero status when he was here because he did slide tackles but he was seriously limited in what he could do. Just a clogger. He was OUR clogger, I get it, but I just feel he was hugely overrated by our fan base.

I remember De Jong vs Barry debates were the rage back in the day, with nobody really siding with Barry at the time. Now I don't think there'd be many that say De Jong (I too would say Barry was the better). I find that an interesting phenomenon of sorts.

Yeah, De Jong was limited and nowhere near the player some thought he was. Still a decent player for the club though.

I will say that there were times when I thought Uwe was taking the piss with a sulky attitude and conning the fans by pretending to make massive efforts.

Anelka, though, was taking the piss 90% of the time be was here and not trying properly. Obviously talented but I never knew why some thought he gave a shit about the team.

Fowler too - couldn't even be arsed getting as fit as the average 40 year old bloke - but I don't think he is remembered particularly fondly.

Sorry guys but I hate this thread. OK some people City signed over the years might have been mercenaries, just in it for the money, but most gave their all. Some comments on hear made me wonder if the people were WUMS, shame on them,

I like Grealish as a person. Seems a real nice and friendly young man. But never saw what is special about him as a player going back to his days at Aston Villa. Average or slightly above average at the best. Nothing more than that. Sane was 20 times better than Grealish. I also believe we bought him, at least in part, to attract young English fans. I literally laugh loudly when someone on here keeps insisting and repeating that Grealish is “world class.” Perhaps world class in turning around aimlessly with the ball :))) I still hope he turns things around and transforms into superstar.
I think Grealish is Lallana 2.0

Always running with the ball where there's no pressure (ie. just in front of the centre halves) or where he can't affect a game

Im not enjoying the thread much. Seems the title of it and the sentiment behind it has been lost on a few as well. I read Bony's name in a post earlier. No way anyone has ever seemed to rate him

Robinho , world class rated striker but was only signed on deadline day to raise the profile of our club and was the epitome of the term "mercenary" , he joined for the money , not the project or the club or the manager. But his signing did the job because other star players signed like Yaya who actually gave a f*ck and were great signings , but Robinho will always be classed as a disappointment in my humble opinion, but he would have suited the Rags down to the ground , how many shirts would he have sold at the Swamp ?

Look back to about page 2 of the thread. There's a link to the (then) Bony appreciation society. It's well worth a read.

There are some legendary BM bigwigs in there who would probably want the earth to swallow them up if they read what they said!
