It wasn't his best game but I still don't think we should put him out wide. He's much better in the middle of the park.

He can be good on the wing, but he's got a habit of letting the game pass him by when he's out there.

If the ball isn't coming to you on that right wing, you need to go looking for it, or demand it, he doesn't seem to have the confidence or authority to do that yet.

never a 9 for these kind of midtable sides

Did you watch the game? He didn't really play 9 at all. Most of the first half he was isolated out on the RW with Jesus in the middle and in the second half he went to the left.

There was some moving around and interchanging of positions but he wasn't the 9 today.

that is exactly the problem but pep started him as a false 9. these kind of games we need someone to occupy the CBs and give us a focal point

You're talking absolute shite, he started on the RW, with Jesus in the middle.

I'll ask again, did you watch the game?

No he didn't, Domalino.

He may have moved over there but he definitely started through the middle.
Definitely started in the middle. Was bobbins, kept making the wrong runs. Then went right after about 20mins (guess?).

Played too frustrated in the second half. Needs to keep a cool head when things aren’t going our way, he gets too upset and it affects his performance.

Wasted in the first half and hardly got a kick , second half he dropped deeper and caused Palace problems , that's down to Pep , ten games into the season and we havent found a player who can lead our attack. Foden alongside Bernardo are our best players we need to play Phil in his best position , but i am not sure where that is.
He did fine last season on the left wing and coming inside but Grealish has taken that position and is less effective , its a dilemma , we appear to move Foden from his best position to accomodate Grealish.
Not a criticism of Grealish he's done OK adapting to our style , but we didnt need him , we needed a replacement for Aguero , another £50m to the Grealish money and maybe Haaland would have signed.

Asked to play up top vs a very physical Palace side and unsurprisingly had a stinker. Lad is one of the best left wingers in the Europe and we are crowbarring him into other positions because we went and spent 100mil on an out and out left winger.
Even when he went to the left he struggled. He doesn't have the pace/strength YET to get past fullbacks consistently.

I like him as our 9 still even if he did struggle today. The only place for him is in/around the middle of the pitch.

Another £50m to the Grealish money and we would have ended up with Kane and he's hardly ripping up any trees

Not the best week for Phil. He can play anywhere on the pitch but maybe asking him to change positions every match is impacting his decision making. Keep him left or deep. Wasted up top and on the right.

i think he has the skillset to be great on the right wing i dont see him staying on the left wing long term.

I don't think he will ever have the pace to get past full backs. He isnt that quick.
