Daily mail editorship now is more central conservative than it was previously isn’t it?
Not so sure about that. He’s rather a Marmite figure, and if you’re attempting to eat into such a whopping majority, you need a flavor that’s appealing to more.Bercow would stand the best chance.
Sounds familiar to the oven-ready Brexit deal. Who reads the ingredients? ;-)fuck me -
BBC - "The committee are satisfied that Owen Paterson broke the rules he is adamant he is not guilty what do you think?"
Zahawi " I haven't actually read the report....."
BBC - "Haven't read it but you voted on it? "
Zahawi - " well I haven't gone into the detail ....."
Does the pope shit in the woods? Was Johnson using the Owen Patterson case to attempt to stop investigations into his own affairs?

In 1997, Martin Bell overturned an oddly similar 22,000 majority in Tatton and turned that into a staggering 11,000 majority. Of course, that was rather engineered by Alastair Campbell and served as a precursor for Labour’s General Election victory.
The opposition parties are missing a trick, because an independent MP sitting on an anti-sleaze platform would be sitting staring at the Conservative’s for the next three years, and it would keep the issue in the public eye, too.
Seems to me they’re missing an open goal, and on this forum we’ve all seen enough of those in recent seasons to know one when we see it.
Err - Jon Snow is stepping down from C4 News and is no lover of this GovtI agree - Bercow would be easy to organise against, and was a Conservative MP.
Bell's advantage was that he was not a politician.
I'm quite surprised that any plans for the by-election have been confirmed already - it serves no purpose to do so instantly, when they could see how it may play with the voters could be done.

As a constituency MP Bell was crap.I agree - Bercow would be easy to organise against, and was a Conservative MP.

There’ll presumably have to be three by-elections in the foreseeable. The sad passing of James Brokenshire means that Old Bexley and Sudcup will be ‘contested’ in the next three weeks. The tragic murder of David Amess means that there will have to be a by-election in Southend West, too, though the opposition parties have already agreed to stand aside in that one. I suppose in those circumstances, the opposition parties see North Shropshire as a comparatively free hit, so they cannot step back for an Independent.I agree - Bercow would be easy to organise against, and was a Conservative MP.

Was Neil Hamilton better? As a constituency MP Bell was crap.

Nor had I. The parties and media tend to downplay by-elections that arise from tragic circumstances. That's fair, hadn't considered the others.
fucking clueless - the sooner tghis lot are ousted the better

EXCLUSIVE: Suffolk at centre of multi million alleged cover-up of government PPE scandal
The Government's PPE scandal taints Suffolk, with thousands of containers dumped at sites around the county.eastangliabylines.co.uk
The Netherlands has the same issue. Warehouses full of equipment and millions of masks that are gathering dust and mould and no longer fit for frontline use. More efficient to incinerate them, apparently.I read the article and couldn’t really join the dots when it alleges a “cover up”.
The story seems to be UK buys too much PPE and it has been left in containers pending a decision on what to do with them. What was the alternative? Not buy enough or maybe ask captain hindsight to buy just exactly the right amount. Ridiculous.
