Immediate thoughts on that fight. Plant proved his level tonight, did far better than I expected. Richie Woodhall is not a Canelo fan, gave Plant far too many rounds in a fight that was level at best(tried to say the studio were with him when they weren't). Plant's defensive shell is far too negative aesthetically and he spent far to much time only concentrating on covering up(not answering) to give him some of those rounds that Woodhall gave him. Some of those scorecards were a harsh(the 8-2 one at least) but it didn't matter in the end. Edit: Woodhall, having Plant up 2 rounds going into 10th round. Up 1 round after Canelo "just nicked" the 10th, was a worse scorecard, at the time of the stoppage. Bunce somehow had Plant up 2 rounds at the time of the stoppage(how?).
That's the 3rd undefeated champion Canelo has defeated in the space of 12 months, after moving up weights. Not often you see that these days.

Surely Saul must go down as one of the greats,absolute legend.
It's very unusual to see a fighter carry their power up the weights. Credit to Canelo for doing just that and seeming to become more powerful with every passing fight. He is so solid, well disciplined, and powerful that it will take a true artist, akin to Floyd, to beat him; the speed of hand and foot will be key.
