City’s there
City’s every fuckin where
Na na na na
Na na na na na..”

I was in there and I’d say the OP is being conservative with his figures. I reckon there were easily 200-300 of us in that group.Yeah was in the top part of the Stretford Paddock with my brother for the Curle derby, when we got the pen my bro anticipated I would celebrate so when Curle tucked it away grabbed both my arms.
hard to say how many blues were in the bottom bit, there was a cordon around them and they even had a City Union Jack, the only small hint of aggro was after we scored, seem to recall a traffic cone getting hurled from the United fans. Got my ticket from a Man Utd season ticket holder, happy days.
I remember TC acknowledging the mob of City fans as well. Before the game we bumped into another blue we knew really well, he had a small City badge on, the reds around us also knew we were blues but were fine. That could never happen today.I was in there and I’d say the OP is being conservative with his figures. I reckon there were easily 200-300 of us in that group.
I’d been in the Stretford Paddock the year before for the first time in a smaller group of blues (the 1-0 Hendry OG game) but was further along towards the away end that day. In the intervening 12 months, I think United had seated that part of the Paddock so that’s why we were nearer the Stretford End this time round. I got a ticket for me and a mate off a United season ticket holder at work. Remember paying £25 each which was about 3 times face value. As we were further along the Paddock this time, I wasn’t sure where the City fans would be gathered. I was guessing near the front again but wasn’t sure. Anyway, straight after we got in and were stood at the back of the stand sussing things out a copper said to us “Your lot are at the front”. To this day, I’ve no idea how he knew we were blues as we weren’t wearing colours. We made our way to the front and I was surprised at the numbers. There seemed to be a bit of a no mans land behind us with the United fans gathered beyond that but when Giggs scored they naturally surged forwards and there was the briefest of stand offs. Me and my mate were close to it as we were towards the back of the group but to be honest, it was something and nothing and I didn’t feel particularly threatened. Maybe that’s when the police threw a bit of a cordon round us. I remember the players coming out at the start of the second half and us singing “England’s No.1” to Coton and we were that loud that he acknowledged us. The poster who said we were kept in at the end was spot on. Afterwards a load of us jumped on the bus into town. It was virtually all blues on it as most of the Rags had already gone. Somewhat amusingly, a load of City fans who had been in the away end walked past the bus and started banging on it and chanting to us “You couldn’t beat ten men”!
I knew it could not have been 1974 or 1975. The Old Trafford fixture in 1974 was the ‘Denis Law backheel’ match and the following season United were in the Second Division.1973 - not the best 0-0 I've ever seen - "tiny" is a bit OTT though, not our usual numbers for a swamp derby but Allison had buggered off to Palace 2 or 3 weeks before and there didn't seem to be that much enthusiasm among the fans.
Probably both tbf.Pretty sure the refrain was “Blues are here” etc…
Thanks got the year wrong old man's memory I'm afraid.1973 - not the best 0-0 I've ever seen - "tiny" is a bit OTT though, not our usual numbers for a swamp derby but Allison had buggered off to Palace 2 or 3 weeks before and there didn't seem to be that much enthusiasm among the fans.
Eek!!On another note. I was in the main stand when they battered us 5-0 (simon tracey). That wasnt pleasant
Probably!Probably both tbf.
I was in the main stand for that, as well as the Goater equaliser and the 6-1. Mad to think we didn’t win there for 34 years. Fuck me, that’s a long time, especially when you consider some of the performances since, especially the one earlier this month.Me and a mate were in their main stand when Brightwells screamer went in. Remember clearly nodding at fellow Blue around us, and also recall a large number of Blues in the paddock.
i was in that group, I would have said it numbered at least 200, got tickets off the Maine road forecourt a couple of weeks earlier off a tout. City fans totally took the piss that nightI watched the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford towards the end of the 91 - 92, keeping very quiet throughout. Nothing unusual there, I reckon there were a good few Blues doing the same thing.
What was unusual was there we’re about fifty to a hundred Blues stood in the corner of the terrace to the right. I thought they’d get kicked out, but stewards stood round them instead and they let sky blue balloons off just before kick off.
It was all a bit surreal, not least when Keith Curle equalised from the penalty spot and they were jumping about celebrating.
Was anyone on here there or know the story behind it? Never seen owt like it before or since, but praise be to those Blues that made that corner of the Stretford End ours!
Giggs didnt score, Mclair crossed it, slight deflection off Pointon, Giggs missed it, Margetson dived over it and Hendry diverted it into the net....There were alway blues in their end back in those days because you got tickets from your mate or a tout. In the derby where Giggs scored on his debut there was a chant of “City” went up from the Stratford seated area which was hilarious because they were all looking round going mad trying to see where it came from but we were spread throughout the stand.
