TV Series

Foundation on Apple TV

Based on the Asimov books (haven't read them)

Very well made Sci-Fi saga.

Really enjoyed it with a good mix of action and story progression.

It jumps around time-line wise (as every drama does these days) but this didn't spoil it for me.

8/10
I thought it was impressive too, though the user reviews on the IMDb site are rather mixed. Part of the appeal for me was the exploration of the implications of historical, mathematical and genetic determinism. This made me think of the famous example of Laplace’s demon.

Additionally, some Asimov purists do not seem to be happy that a couple of the main characters have been gender-swapped in the series, but I thought that Lou Llobell was particularly outstanding in her role.

It’s very hard to do SF of such complexity and breadth successfully, and the series therefore inevitably has some flaws and won’t appeal to everyone, but on the whole it was pretty good.

7/10

Wheel of time episode four I thought was excellent. Not read the books, so I don’t know about whether it’s true to story or anything like that.

Watched a narrated battle of the roses , called royal b*stards. Rise of the tudors , three eps in one go, historical facts acted out drama style and narrated by three actors , thought the narration would be annoying but it was good to have the proper facts along with the acting , go margaret

I can see why. I didn't want to say it didn't work and I've been reflecting on it a week.

I might need to re-watch it in a different mood.

Yeah agree sometimes it does depend what type of mood your in when watching films/tv shows to how you rate them.

Like foundation watched first 4/5 episodes and I didn’t really like it but the last five episodes loved it maybe it just clicked into place. I’ll be watching the whole series again and I reckon I’ll enjoy it more because there is a lot going on jumping from one time to another.

Been watching the Millennium series again. It's basically the 3 Swedish films cut into 6 90minute episodes which cover Stieg Larsson's original trilogy of books. They're showing weekly on BBC4 but also available on iplayer if anyone's interested. Episode 3 was on tonight but there's 4 available so far so you're not left hanging in the middle of the story (though there is a bit of a cliff-hanger on ep.4 iirc).
