im just an old fecker,,home is for living in work is for working in

that would be great if I could switch my work phone/emails off after office hours. Unfortunately I have to take it home and the hour and a half commute makes it all the more stressful

Yesterday 61 people on flights from South Africa to Amsterdam were positive for Covid. 13 of them with Omicron.
I get a feeling this has been around a lot longer than we realise over there.
Are they not insisting every passenger has a PCR test within 72 Hours of boarding the plane ?

We're work from home permanently now with the exception of big team meetings. Our productively is miles better now. And even customer service are 3 days a week wfh and 2 days in the office. Proper boomer mentality on you haha.
If it’s actual productivity I’ve always had the opinion that’s the number of hours worked doesn’t matter, it’s the revenue created that’s the most important factor. However as I’ve quoted Customer service has gone down the nick during and after Covid, a lot of services hiding behind the excuse,
This can be an issue. It’s one of the biggest working from home issues.

I try to make sure my team finish work on time and do actually stop working. I close my laptop at 5.30 and I’m done. The only one that still keeps working is a younger member who I think just likes doing what she is doing. There is zero pressure on her to keep doing it but she does. If she is enjoying what she is doing and it’s not effecting her life then I’m happy to let her continue. Not that I could stop her working even if I wanted too :)
The old “my team” I so fucking hate that proprietorial connotation, it’s shocking, she’s a colleague who works with you, give your head a wobble. As I’ve been called a “boomer” I’m still not crass enough to think I ever thought my work mates were ever less valued than myself.

that's like saying Pep's squad isn't his team.

lockdowns have caused more harm than good! some people actually think they work!

the lock downs did exactly what they were supposed to do. Reduce the R0 below 1 so the spread reduces meaning the NHS didn’t get totally overwhelmed.

seeing as that’s what it was for it 100% worked.

not one single scientific entity or government official said it would make the virus go way forever.

lockdown is a virus suppression tool. Nothing more.

i didnt mean they didnt help with covid! they have caused untold misery of people dying of other illnesses because of waiting for treatment ! mental illness has gone through the roof and the economy has been totally destroyed ! on top of that people have lost their jobs and homes so in that respect they were not worth it! the vulnerable should have been protected and everyone else should have been left to get on with their lives!

Pre vaccine there was very little choice. Without the lockdowns the NHS would have been over run and 10’s of thousands would have been left to die alone at home. Including all the other illnesses not getting treated ect.

while a lockdown is a blunt instrument and far from perfect, it was better than the alternatives.

only time will tell but its not looking great!

What worries me is yes the vaccines is saving people from getting really ill but
Its also creating a super covid a mutation that will be far deadly than the first wave.
Will this ever end its frightening to think about whats ahead.

It’s far more likely that mutations become weaker than stronger. Viruses don’t want to kill their host.

i wouldnt tell you one way or another but yes i had covid! but you do seem a bit agitated ! you need to get your head round the fact that covid will be around us like all other diseases which seem to have been cast to one side for a long time but its now all about covid ! if you want to hide under your bed forever thats your choice but i plan to live my life as normal as possible and that wont include wearing a mask!
Smallpox has been cast to one side. And polio.

Well if idiots don't get vaccinated and we don't share vaccines with poorer countries, it will never end.
