Greater Manchester highlights:

192 cases - up 12. - fourth straight sub 200 total.

This is great news as a rise of just 12 from a NW rise of 69 cuts the GM % of the NW total by 6.6% to sub 50% at 49.8% - first time in three weeks below half.

Wk to wk : 341 v 287 v 192

Some very interesting numbers today. With just 32 top to bottom.

Manchester top scores on just 39 - down 15 on wk

Oldham at 33 not far behind and up 12 on the wk (todays most NW deaths were in Pennine Acute too so bad day here)

Wigan clocks up 23 but that is down 14 on week

Bolton one behind on 22 but down 4 on the wk

Rochdale also on 22 but down even more at 6 week to week.

Then Stockport on 19 but doing less well as that is up by 3 wk to wk. Not much damage but up nonetheless.

The other 4 all clocked up VERY low numbers.

Trafford in double figures on 10 - down 13 in the week.

The other 3 ALL had single figure numbers!

Tameside had 9 - down 15 on the week Salford had its second single number - 8 - in the past four days - a huge fall from 43 last week.

And top scoring again was Bury on just 7 -down 8 on the week.

Pretty good day all round with the exception of Oldham particularly and Stockport to a small degree.

Recommended to get the 2nd unless they had this reaction to the first was what I read. Not absolutely sure.
Yes that is what was said in the press conference.

I imagine they presume the most susceptible would react to the first dose on being exposed to the vaccine as more likely than the second when the body has already seen it and handled it.

Plus there will be limited numbers who have had 2 doses to judge from, Might change again when more second doses have been given, of course. as we are dealing with very rare events and tiny numbers.

50 or so out of a many millions.

I guess if you worked out how many fell down the stairs in the weeks after vaccination you would come up with a number! But nobody would suggest the vaccine was the reason.

As I see it:
The main (and largely overlooked) point is that regulators issued Emergency Use orders for all the vaccines; none of them have gone through the years-long testing procedures which would normally be needed.

Issues got flagged; the regulators would likely suspend the use order until data on the issue had been reviewed. They have now issued revised regulatory advice with advice by age, just as many drugs say "don't mix with this other drug". As a professional on the BBC has just said, it's "safe but not risk-free" - the regulatory advice will continue to be revised.

This was always going to be likely - it's a learning process, and all the regulatory people will have been looking out for these things.

Yep it's a normal process but with unprecedented media scrutiny.

I worry that these vaccines have been too rushed.
This development is concerning.
