Yes. Apart from the countrywide reach they have the unnatural grouping of the former Mirror Group papers with Express Newpapers which take opposite political views but altogether they can influence their hard of thinking readers without them even realising it.
But it is football where their combined might affects us as they are so heavily biased towards the Redshirts. Worst still, both the Mail (Samuel excepted) and the Sun get into the same bed. As a result the country as a whole does not have a satisfactory coverage of the game it exports to the world.

I worked in news print and media in the very early days as this insidious entity began to grow. I don’t think many people (me included) recognised just how fast they would evolve and become so influential.

They also hold the keys to the People and the Star, so their influence on the knuckle dragging and football news hungry fan is really substantial.

They also run a large stable of some quite unexpected brands and publications like OK Magazine and the quaintly titled Black Country Bugle.

As they grow the market constricts still further. Information is power and all that.

They didn’t need to.
They quite literally hired the vast majority of the staff from MUTV on the other side of the canal, most of whom were on zero hours freelance contracts at the Meccano set.
They hired Nick Coppack (ex MUTV) as their head of digital/online and social media.
That plastic **** then hired all his mates.
Hence the shite we endure to this day - we get plastic rag yonner cunts like Shamoon Hafez twatting on about transfer fees and empty seats in a City live commentary, for the sole benefit of lurking redshirts
