Managed to book my booster in for the Etihad on Wednesday, looks like while officially over 30s can book from tomorrow, they’ve updated the website already.
I was referring to the science being reported. These numbers are known but are not being published. They need to be.Don’t know.
Don't know.
Don’t know.
No science, so can’t be shit.
Limited reporting, no idea if shit or all they’ve been given.
Antivaxxers and antimaskers don’t need encouragement to spout their shit.
I wasn’t offended by the report of some cases now in hospital.
I read it thought, yeah, that’s probably true, but it doesn’t really tell us much and carried on with my day.
So are you saying that you know better than the vast consensus of scientists and experts on the subject?I'm a statical mathematician by training.
I and many others in my profession think the models are shit. Worse they do nothing to correct them with each wave.
It does science no favours at all.
It is a Sunday though. Accurate figures have never been given out on a Sunday throughout the pandemic.I was referring to the science being reported. These numbers are known but are not being published. They need to be.
You have a point.Exactly they probably are but health officials know that and don't tend to weigh them above all else, it's only really the media that have done that. The government has put caution above everything else with the new measures because of what happened last year as opposed to following the models.
The funniest thing though is if a model came out tomorrow showing that everything will be fine then they'd publish that as well despite knowing they published something saying the opposite the week before.
It's all about likes and clicks and that's it.
The models should get more and more accurate in light of real world data.So are you saying that you know better than the vast consensus of scientists and experts on the subject?
Have you still got me on ignore? I wrote a brilliant thesis on here last week explaining why the Omnicron variant would beat the Delta variant in a straight fight over 3 rounds. I also find The Lancet very slow at responding to my emails. This is the most accurate post on this thread in the last month.
So are you saying that you know better than the vast consensus of scientists and experts on the subject?
You didn't answer the question.I know bad science when I see it.
The models should get more and more accurate in light of real world data.
Over the last year, have they got more accurate?
I don’t see myself as an expert to be fair. ;-)You didn't answer the question.
Do you think you know better than the vast consensus of scientists on this subject?
Are you a scientist or expert in the field of virology or epidemiology?
I'm not trying to be an arse but all i see you do is tell the experts they are wrong on a football forum.
So you are saying that you are not an expert in this field, thank you. He's a statistical mathematician, I'm a mathematical modeller we both know models are usually absolutely shit and SAGE has yet to prove that any of their models are anything like robust. That is all we are saying.
tbf i don't see you telling everyone the scientists are wrong though.I don’t see myself as an expert to be fair. ;-)
Only catching up on thread so might be said by time I get to current posts, but you can book today according to the radio, the website has already been updated to allow it.Ah didn’t know this. Thanks blues.
I can’t. I just read their studies and note their conclusions and apply what I think necessary to keep my household safe.tbf i don't see you telling everyone the scientists are wrong though.
So you are saying that you are not an expert in this field, thank you.
Im saying I'm a better mathematician than them because I am. I get paid by companies for my work as what I do is valuable. I don't sit in a uni office all day on low pay not bothered if my results are any good or not.So you are saying that you are not an expert in this field, thank you.
QuiteHe's a statistical mathematician, I'm a mathematical modeller we both know models are usually absolutely shit and SAGE has yet to prove that any of their models are anything like robust. That is all we are saying.
I know models should improve as data is collected. So you are saying that you are not an expert in this field, thank you.
I am in the same boat as you pal, I'm just not licking any door handles yet until more conclusive evidence emerges (either way)Is the jury really still out on whether its more mild. Have you looked at any data other than what the UK provides?
Everything coming out of SA indicates it is more mild, In fact significantly more mild.
Check it out, I find it very helpful in alleviating the doom and gloom stuff being spouted by our own scientists and politicians. Which if im totally honest isnt doing my own mental wellbeing any good.
