F1 Season 2021

Well we could expect the rags to be waved through to second place and a 39 game played in the Far East with our players made to play in blindfolds, just so we can have a race for the PL title.
They do that every week anyway with all their referees.
Operation top 4

Glad I missed the race. Congratulations to Max. The moment he arrived on the scene all those years ago, I knew he would shake things up. I hope he can lose a bit of the self pity and show he can win by driving with due care - it's F1, not bumper cars. I imagine he will mature with experience, just as Hamilton and others have.

All I can say tho, is Hamilton is the one for me. His grace and unflappability, in the face of a few of the F1 heirachy showing their true colours, is an example I will always look to.

Hardly penalised they wouldn’t have won without that atrocious decision.

spot on

lewis so far the better driver and faster car today and the only way red bull and max could have won the title was in a one lap shoot out. the rules state that ALL lapped car have to be let through before you can go racing again ? also max is not allowed to drive head to head under a safety car

if Mercedes protests are upheld, then Red Bull never legitimately won the race in the first place, so it's not taking any off them that they earned.

If they aren't upheld, then they won in the eyes of the rules, if not the eyes of anyone who actually watched it.
They did legitimately win the race; under the race rules they completed the total distance. If the FIA doesn't believe that their rules were broken (which is what they'll say because it's the FIA) what rules did Red Bull break to take away the race win? They followed the FIA's own rules as were implemented at the time by Masi.

It could be overturned, I just have my doubts given the FIA's history in this area given experience with Ferrari in the 2000's.

RB? Not a chance, unless you want a sport to accept that one team can direct the admin. You are never going to prove that in court.

Masi? Yes. As he's not going to admit to favouring one team (and it won't be provable), at worst he engineered a spectacle.

Most importantly, Verstappen would lose out for something Masi did. That's a ludicrous outcome. Even if Masi says "I wanted Verstappen to win", it shouldn't be to Verstappen's detriment.
but if he broke F1's normal rules on safety car procedure to engineer a clear track for Verstappen then surely Mercedes would win on appeal as Masi broke the rules of F1 and why did he change his mind after RB complained, why did Red Bull complain about an existing rule in the first place?

It is a fucking shambles and has left the sport in disrepute and Verstappen is left with a tainted title, not that he gives two fucks about that, as he already thinks he has been treat badly all season lol

I haven't watched F1 for years, but I did today. I have no love for Hamilton but that was a farce, plain as day.
Used to watch it religiously. Even took part in the fantasy F1 back in the day. As soon as these engines came in though, no more for me.

True, but it's irrelevant. If someone breaks a world record, but then it turns out the clock is dodgy, they would have that world record removed from them. They wouldn't keep it on the grounds that they didn't do anything wrong.
That's why I posted the Balestre gif. The best rules are the ones the FIA decide. They've always been that way.

Strange that Sky aren't reshowing anything in the time since. I don't see any value in not doing so.

Karun on sky now going through the footage now. Max was ahead under safety car however, Lewis then went ahead making the original complaint pointless.

Because they were trying it on, like everybody does in every sport.

Sky finally showing the footage, and they'll need another angle, I'd guess.
