The thing that’s irritating me is seeing all the commentators referring to Verstappen as a “deserved champion”.
Him having a great season doesn’t justify the farce of the ending yesterday, rules can’t just be amended on the fly and the consequences fobbed off because it’s perceived as “deserved”.
That's nothing to do with Max though. He is a deserving champion. He won the race. You can't argue with that. The race shouldn't have been fiddled the way it was but that's not on Max.
What irritated me was the lack of balls from any of the F1 pundits. They just sucked it up like it was an amazing finish and heaped praise on Max and Red Bull. They should have been fuming at the farce they'd just seen in the sport they love. They kept regurgitating Horner's line about a miracle and "never give up" and "fight 'til the end". That's bollocks. There is no lesson anyone can take from that. Max didn't have to do anything but pit for new tyres in that race under sterilised conditions. His move to pass Lewis was great, but I don't think Lewis thought he would pass there because it gave him an opportunity to get back at him. Max did well to prevent that by holding the inside line, but Lewis would have lost the place on that straight had he not been passed before because he'd have had less grip coming out of the corner and Max could have gone the long way round him.
