Mercedes are looking at the bigger picture and a legal battle will only be detrimental to the sport and both teams as it would air out all their grievances in public. In the end it boils down to a single bad refereeing decision rather than any malice and that is sport, it happens from time to time when humans are under pressure. I think the FIA will confirm this when they complete their investigation and then make changes to avoid it happening again. I think I read somewhere that the direct line during races between race controller and team directors has already been dropped for next season.

No surprise. I assume they've had assurances that Masi goes, and for a review of how things work/what is acceptable from the race dircector.

I suspect they also know that there isn't anything much that can be done on the outcome, and had to today to make the decision on whether to press it.

You can disagree on the call last Sunday, or whatever calls that have been made over the season. You can even disagree with the style of Verstappen driving his car.

But Verstappen didn’t cheat. In fact the best driver won.

Mercedes not appealing for me says it all. Their defensive calls have been swept under the carpet. That is what cost Hamilton the title. Fresh tires and he would have been World Champion. Not so now.

So stop being a bitter blue. And accept that if it wasn’t for Verstappen, F1 would still be as boring as the German league

Lewis is a better driver. I like Max and have no issue with him winning, but the way it happened leaves a bad taste. To be honest I would have been happier if he had taken Lewis out ala Schuey or Senna, but the officials fixing it for him? Nah.

This has been discussed so many times as to the reasons why this was not the case. Mercedes would have had to have known that Masi was going to do what he did and introduce a new rule to have achieved a win. They played the card of experience but got done by a moment of inexperience outside of their control.

I do agree however with Mercedes taking this route as I explained earlier, Masi just cocked up, simple as.

I also agree it's wrong to say Verstappen is a cheat which is why he shouldn't lose his title. Whether he was the best driver, debateable.
 
Masi should have been replaced straight after the Australian gp in 2019, vastly under qualified and solely responsible for this shambles.
 
Max, daddy, Karen, Helmut and orange shirted cheerleaders would have gone fruitloop crazy had the tables been turned and I doubt we would have seen Max and his dad showing the incredible humility and dignity show by Lewis and his old man. I also suspect Red Bull would definitely have taken this further.

Big asterisk against Verstappen for the rest of time now.

I’m still bitter about it but that statement makes it abundantly clear that Merc know they got shafted and will not stand for anymore crap like that again from the FIA and F1.

Agreed.

Mercedes have gone down a dignified path. They've made their point and now accepted the outcome .
They will destroy red bull next season.
