It probably actually isn't that bad because most of the anti-vaxxers are 'vaxxed' anyway through a previous infection. I think well over 9/10 of people now have antibodies of some sort either via vaccination or prior infection.

The unvaccinated and uninfected (immune naive) are mostly limited now to younger people and that's perhaps why there was some increase in younger hospitalisations with Delta, especially as restrictions were also less. I wouldn't expect this to happen with Omicron because most people now are either vaccinated or they've had COVID before.

Either way, Omicron is still going to be a big threat to those who are immune naive specifically and that's where hospitalisations will definitely occur. This group is very small though and it's only getting smaller which is why I personally think that Omicron and COVID generally is appearing to become milder.
 
Just watched Dr John Campbell latest..I know not everyone's cup of tea..but he does mention that the booster brings back up protection to 90% against omicron. Any blues read anything? It's certainly great news if so..
 
Sorry to post on this thread but somehow without purposely doing it I have put a poster on “ignore”, how do I reverse this? Complete accident.

I'm not sure if she's said that but so far there is no evidence around the impact of acquired immunity on Omicron, vaccination is just one way of acquiring immunity. For example some people who are unvaccinated have had COVID before so they have some protection anyway.

Certainly in the UK you'd expect Omicron to be mild for most people and that's because they've either been vaccinated or they've had COVID before. The number of people not fitting into that group is tiny whereas 12 months ago it was huge.

Day 4 of quarantine. Symptoms are fading and I’m now just a little bunged up, bit of a fuzzy head and the odd cough. Bored out of my fookin skin like but definitely not ill to any serious degree.

I’ve watched Cape Fear (good), new James Bond (shite) and about to rewatch Dead Man’s Shoes (brilliant). Watched a bit of the cricket earlier and wish I hadn’t and will be hoping the Scouse and Chav bastards lose tonight.

Lost all motivation to do anything productive which is what I’m like when I’m in the house constantly.

Sorry for the rambling about myself think I’ve lost plot.

Any tips on how to keep myself occupied. ????

It's a real grey area tbh.

France are banning direct travel from the UK (unless it's essential travel) but I don't think they are explicitly banning UK passport holders.

So as long as you satisfy the entry requirements for Switzerland, you might be ok.....might being the operative word.

I've also no idea how thorough any checks might be on the land borders between France and Switzerland?
Pre-Covid I think you could come and go as you please, with perhaps the odd customs check, but it could well have been tightened up in the pandemic.
I also wouldn't put it past a French official to take a dim view upon being presented a British passport (if you did indeed need to show it to anyone)

The best solution, although likely not practical, would be to go directly to France tomorrow before the rules change on Saturday.
Failing that, if you can back out without too much financial cost/ability to defer you might think that's wise given the complete unknown and uncertainty.

She comes across in her interviews as extremely confident. saw one where she basically said that its always mild, old, young, vaxxed, unvaxxed etc.

Got jabbed Monday, Tuesday sore arm that was it, Wednesday woke up had a runny nose for hour, Thursday feel 100%..
