I’m wondering when they may force all frontline emergency services to have a vaccination, I think it’s coming as this and other variants start impacting on staffing, I know a few who won’t have the vaccine, however when their job is on the line that may well change. I’m not for compulsory vaccination, however I do feel if they get sick from it then they should get insurance, but I can’t see anyone insuring them for this.

Thing is I only had a bit of a sore arm and a day of grogginess after my first, and absolutely nothing after my second.

Both were Pfizer but I thought Moderna was basically the same thing…

Didn’t they say yesterday that Omicron is already accounting for over 50% of new cases in London?
I know we were aware that it was going to spread like fuck, but I must say I’ve been a little taken aback at the speed of the spread.
Just got off the phone to my dad to say I’m not going up to the pub to meet him and his mates for a pint on Sunday. I was hoping that he’d say he was going to knock it on the head as well but he’s still going out ffs! He’s 82 but on the plus side he had his booster weeks ago.

I know people across the whole political spectrum who are saying the same. Many of them are ordinary folk who are as far from fascist as you can get. I don’t necessarily agree with the viewpoint but I can fully understand it’s pissing a lot of people off.

It’s also a country with an ageing population, so many of those who have passed will have been vaccinated and will have had access to excellent medical provision. Over a thousand deaths in Russia today, too. It’s a tragedy.

I wouldn’t trust a front line medical worker to go anywhere near me or my loved ones if they were anti-vaccine.

What kind of fucked up nutter goes into medicine not believing in vaccines?

They should be struck off for life.

There are lots and lots of states where vaccine take up has been atrocious. Texas, Carolinas etc it's close to 50%. That's not boosters, that's fully vaccinated. It's going to get bad there and other parts of the world. Makes you thankful for what we have here. While I'd have liked greater take up and perhaps the rollout of boosters a touch quicker, compared to some US states we are laughing.

Incredibly, doubling times in nearly every region are below two days.

That means the number infected today are probably at least 4x higher, maybe 10x higher than the cases reported in the headline figure.

I expect we'll run up against testing capacity very shortly.

I'd never have believed this rate was sustainable to this number of infections.

Current hospitalisation rate of 0.04% unless I'm reading incorrectly? (Appreciate there is a lag so not directly comparable)

Figure being 20 people in hospital/49000 cases
