What I don’t understand is why an article like this: https://talksport.com/football/556089/eden-hazard-salary-real-madrid-paid-chelsea/ talks about Hazard making £188k AFTER TAX. This makes it seem like the 400k number for him is quid.

Couldn't tell you, £188k a week after tax isn't too shabby and no way he was clearing that at Chelsea.

Madrid will have also kept his basic wage down by handing him an outrageous signing on fee.

Kev is our top earner on £385k a week but he will have to manage on about £140k a week once his tax and National Insurance take their huge piece.

165k off the top of my head. (and remembering the tax codes)

“ This net figure is Hazard’s take-home pay, and works out at around £188,000-a-week for the forward.

Though this total is lower than Hazard’s £200,000-a-week salary at Chelsea, he has NOT taken a pay cut to join Real. His Chelsea wage is reported as a gross total, meaning Hazard has taken home much less than the reported figure once tax is deducted.”

That’s why I am wondering whether the 357k isn’t really the gross total as I cannot find anywhere it described as after tax. Hazard is Madrid’s top earner after Bale after all

I got accused of having blue tinted glasses on when I suggested that Haaland, on purely football terms has no better place to go than City and I stand by that . Every other big club would have to buy him, and then buy players to put around him to get the best out of him . Barca and Madrid can't afford to do that, nor can Bayern.Go to the scum? Don't make me laugh ! They will have to get rid of a lot of deadwood and rebuild before they have a squad that would even get close to Haalands ability and expectations. PSG yep they have the money to afford him of course, but it's still the farmers league and Haalands better than that, and he knows it . We have a squad of world class talent that needs a world class striker to take the squad to a whole new dimension of football.
I sometimes despair of some of our fans small time thinking, we are top dogs in world football now, the red teams and the media might not like it or report it but it's true .

You my friend should get employed by our PR department

Bravo

You simply don’t know that for certain and are just expressing an opinion. Of course we can afford the deal, but City may still have a structure in place which is non negotiable.
We can afford to pay him £1 million a week but we won’t and we will not pay him more than kdb

We might we might not, either way there will be a limit on what we would pay him that none of us know.
There is a limit for every club, no question about that, and we may guess a lot around here, but that we would pay him more than we pay Kevin, that is a certainty.

I can safely say it is. It’s mind boggling to me that some people think Kevin’s wages are some sort of limit when we were prepared to pay Messi more than PSG pays now
Messi isnt Haaland. What he would be paid has no bearing on paying a normal human

You can’t safely say what we would or what we wouldn’t pay. You can guess like we all can, you can’t be certain.
I have no idea what our limit is I think we would pay more than we pay KDB, but I like you can’t be certain.

Kevs the highest paid, right now thats the limit. We were prepared to break it for Messi, thats doesnt mean we will break it for anyone else or not. No certainty can be drawn either way.
It is a certainty for ME. People can doubt everything, it’s not my problem. But as far as logic goes, it’s pretty damn obvious. You would be bringing a player to score more goals than anyone in the squad, more commercial appeal than our current squad and potential for Ballon D’Or and other accolades. If we were bringing in Mbappe he too would easily come in earning more than Kevin as he will at Madrid compared to the rest of that squad. This is a valuation that the market has decided for these players, it’s not an obscenity that Raiola or other agents came up with on their own. But you know, again, that’s just my humble opinion which I have made a thousand times. And I stay away from the thread a few days, come back and the back and forth seems the same constantly. So I will be making similar points in the future clearly.
