Newcastle United (A) - Post-Match Thread

If a penalty had been given it would have been more ridiculous than the one that Alan Wilkie gave against Michael Frontzeck for "fouling" Cantona as the ball sailed 20 feet above their heads.

Professional performance, very efficient without being spectacular. Stone wall pen as you cant just clean a player out without getting the ball, doesn't matter who has control of the ball or if he's getting the ball if the tackle hadn't had happened. Glad to see some of those decisions go in our favour for a change though.

Another bent decision. Remember at the time, even from the other end, everyone thinking what the fuck was that for. Keane thought it was our free kick that's how bent it was. Just wish it would all come out in my lifetime

Did you notice the attendance at Spurs? 45,421 Capacity 62,850 Bet it's all over the media today, not.
Noticed that last night. Was it because of covid restrictions? If not then that was a piss poor turnout for a top game. And yes it won’t get a mention.

Enjoyed that. First game I've been to in 2 years, so it's good to be back!

Thought Rodri, Cancelo and Ruben were great, some others not at their best, but quite easily good enough beat Newcastle. In the first half, I thought their midfield kept us away from the "last third" quite well, but when they changed formation, it played into our hands for the second half.

As for the "penalty", I think we'd have moaned about not getting it, but really, I can't understand why nobody is actually asking why it wasn't a foul *on* Ederson. The ball was long gone, Ederson was on the floor and the Newcastle player basically ran into him feet first. It's as much a foul on Eddie as it is a penalty.

For what its worth, I thought Newcastle should have been given a penalty yesterday following the Ederson challenge. The proximity or direction of the ball has absolutely nothing to do with whether it was a penalty or not.
If the ball had gone over the dead ball line though, you can do whatever you like to an opponent and it couldn’t be a penalty (although you can still get booked or sent off), as free kicks can only be awarded whilst the ball is in play.

The fact the Newcastle player initiated the contact with Ederson, because he knew the ball had long gone, along with any goal scoring opportunity, matters not?

This is a good one, well worth a watch....

It's factually incorrect re the proximity of the stands to the town centre, the planning issues that put Sheikh Mansour from buying Newcastle.

Mike Ashley refused to let Abu Dhabi look at their books or do any due diligence, so it never got out of first gear.

Same went for Everton, they thought Abu Dhabi were joking and then tried to get them back to the table after learning they were buying City.

As we celebrate being top of the Pile again at Christmas Blues.

Spare a thought for this Guy at Christmas. :-)

Not going well at Derby............now this.

Can you imagine how psycho Liverpool fans would have reacted to Everton if they were where we are right now.

He's found out the bingo is going to be closed if there is another lockdown and he doesn't know where he will go to meet pensioners if this happens.

I know the fixtures out of sync, but we have points on the board. United in 6th are closer to the relegation (16 points) to us at the top (17 points). I'm building a view that maybe 30 points will keep you up this season.
