Ah I remember when folk would say that about Foden

There's a reason we win trophy after trophy and it's by treating each game like it's the only game. Pep's done it since day one.

We're not Liverpool.

Yeh, but McAtee’s only got about 16 months left on his contract. We’re playing fast and loose with him….and unnecessarily so IMO. Would it have impacted us unduly tonight to rest Bernie and give him a run out? Whatever, hope he gets a good 30 mins or more at least

Shows you that Palmer is ahead in current academy pecking order for the first team despite not being seen as good as McAtee who many seen as best talent after Foden.
He's a graduate year ahead of McAtee, been around the first team longer been ahead in the order for awhile. If McAtee wasnt up for contract dont think you'd have seen him on the bench for Prem games till next season.

He's the one that I wouldn't have played, probably. He's surely got to be feeling the effort he's been putting in, match after match, for the past three months?
On the other hand, they've had not far short of a week's rest, and they'll get slightly more than a week's rest after this. Pep must want to keep his key players sharp.
What I will be seriously disappointed about is if we go 3-0 up and McAtee and maybe one of the other lads doesn't get about twenty minutes or so.
I imagine the aim is to keep the rhythm from the winning run, ideally get a decent lead and rest players on the hour mark

He was walking around just fine this afternoon, definitely not COVID and nothing obvious i.e. a cast or protective boot. Strange how the club are so vague about him not being "fully fit".

Someone recently alleged to me he may be bringing it on himself, if you understand the current health climate.

Don't know how true that is.

Which would be very disappointing if so.

Wow, we will be accused of being bullshitters with that line up.

Come on Cole lad bag a few for Baguley.
What happened to “we’ll play with what we’ve got” on the OS?

Fucking 8 of our best 11 hahahaa

Foden was starting basically every single one of these at 19, the man already started getting off the bench at 17. McAtee is already 19 (and 3 months!)

I know there's a very lazy tendency to compare, but at least make the comparison fair.

McAtee is nowhere near Foden in term of talents though, there's huge gap between those two in term of talent if we compared them in same age.

I'm hoping KDB will be playing the false 9 and Bernardo in CM and not the other way round.

I always feel more confident seeing Bernardo, Rodri and Gundogan as our three in CM. It has the perfect balance and leaves KDB free to wreak havoc further forward.
I’m hoping it doesn’t matter

Seriously, let's take a look
Foden was born on may 2000, McAtee October 2002, so the equivalent season for the stage of his career for McAtee would be Foden's 19/20 season.

He played 90 minutes in almost every carabao cup game (including the final), played 800 minutes in the league, 250 in the CL and 230 in the FA cup.

In comparison, McAtee has 22 minutes of senior football.

McAtee is getting maybe 5% of the minutes foden was getting at his age, this isn't comparable. If he were getting foden minutes, that'd be something else.

that's absolutely not what people are saying, a ton of people are saying they are equally as talented, what you're saying is just not true.
