TV Series

I really loved and was absolutely inspired by the first series of The Long Way Round. I really want to drive around Europe, then across America and then across Japan. It really changed something inside of me. Fantastic show.

Then season 2 came out and that was really good too although ruined a bit by Ewans missus tagging along and it changing the dynamic somewhat. Still a good show thou.

The new one is just awful unfortunately....and it gets worse and worse. They don't even ride the bikes because its too dangerous for the last 2 episodes - they buy a bus and put the bikes on it!! Such a shame.

And yes, the constant whinging about their range ffs!
If you’ve never done a driving holiday around Europe I’d recommend it, I’ve done loads and loved everyone.

I tried that but didnt like it, good story but I thought the acting and direction was poor. The daft son is a terrible actor.

I get why some people struggle with it but if you do stick with it, Culkin is absolutely brilliant in the third series.

It keeps getting better series after series. Which daft son? They all have their moments. :-)
Brian Cox is bloody amazing in it. Honestly mate, it’s worth a second chance. Amazing series.

It's OK - lost interest after about 6 episodes or so because it was repetitive - sibling A plots against B as aging father is by turns mentally decrepit and masterfully competent - all within the unbelievable span of a single episode.

Tolerable. 6/10

Do you ever get the sense people jump on the bandwagon of a popular show just so they have something to talk about?

It’s actually a great show I love it personally but I can see why some wouldn’t. It’s unusual for a show not to have a morally decent character. The story is basically about how rich and powerful men can infect all those around them especially their children.

There have been plenty of attention to dysfunctional families at the poorer end of the scale whether it be abusive or absent parents. This just shines a light on it from a different angle. On face value these people look like they have everything but unfortunately their father has been equally abusive and absent as the piss pot from a housing estate.

Think that’s what made the third series finale so good too, that sense of morality finally coming through and how they did it was just superb viewing and acting.
