Whether he is unhappy, wants to leave or Atletico has a replacement is irrelevant as a reason why we would sign him or any player. There is no evidence Pep and Txiki love the kid today. They may have been admirers when he was at Benfica, but that was in the past. Pep admires Simeone and how he works with players; seeing how Felix has worked with him certainly influences his current valuation of the “kid”. Mendes may want to move him here, but with the Alvarez transfer, I can almost certainly rule him out (and a player like Darwin Nunez too). That’s not the profile we will be seeking. It wouldn’t make sense anymore. It’s already been rumored that Barcelona want him; I can see that happening much more easily. Like you said, it’s a simple deal…
