Lol. I’ve literally posted what are the statistically best words. Doesn’t matter what people think are good starter words, they aren’t as good as those ranked at the top (or won’t be given a long enough play time)

Haha. Funnily enough, I watched a video on Monte Carlo simulations earlier on. I actually had to leave the room when the first year students repeatedly couldn't grasp the difference between the gambler's fallacy and regression to the mean. I was shouting at the screen for the lecturer to tell them, "EACH ADDED SAMPLE IS A PROGRESSIVELY LESS SIGNIFICANT COMPARED TO THE EVER GROWING WHOLE PILE"!

"It's not hard, is it," I thought. But there was definitely a period where I didn't understand it. I guess people just have to find their own explanation that settles these things in their head.

If I'm honest tho, it was a bit of a wanker move watching a video on something I got years ago. I should really have been watching something on the Monte Hall problem. That, I still don't get. As far as I can tell, that entire region of my brain remains occupied by that wierd fucking magical crap we all carry around. The stuff that refuses to be dislodged by any amount of listening, reading, or learning. Because it's someone else's idea. Suspicious mammal brain doesn't trust. No listen. Is trick.

Good to see that as I’ve started using RAISE a fair bit recently!

I think the second word is equally important though. I don’t always just use the letters that are guaranteed to be in there as sometimes it can be more about elimination that can help later down the line.

There’s a couple of times where I’ve managed to get to something like -EARS with having multiple options left. If a load haven’t already been eliminated then I think a lot of people then just cycle through changing the first letter rather than go for a word like FRONT to get rid of four potential options.

Totally agree. I try to think of a word with common letters but would never use one off the suggestion lists posted on here. The joy of the game in the first place came from cracking it yourself. If we all learn the best way to solve it, where is the joy and what is the point of playing it?
