Foden needs looking after more. He is the highest profiled player at the club for various reasons.

Poor quality video but it looks a shit area for what looks like a VIP room. It should be cordoned off and you have to show your ticket to be anywhere near it. Nobody should be blamed for standing up for their mum in a physical situation. To be honest I'd find it kind of troubling if she got smacked and he didn't lose his cool. Even if she had been in the wrong, I'd want one of our players to side with his mum in this situation.

Equally I'm not going to blame her for losing her temper and shoving the guy as I think that's a very human reaction to hearing your son getting verbally abused. But it definitely would have been better for Phil if she'd turned the other cheek and avoided this whole controversy.

I don't think either should get criticised for what amounts to sticking up for your mum/son really.

Side note, it's really interesting that Harvey Elliot's mum is a massive racist and nobody gives a shit but this is treated like a big issue.

last night looked naive. Compare that narrow corridor with no security with the way stones Grealish and the coaches walked in to the venue. (Separate point - can’t believe the comments on here citing Grealish is a negative influence).

we don’t know what was said before Foden walked into the box, but I’m guessing he was putting up with a lot in a narrow corridor. He did well to keep on walking away from those scumbags calling him a “fag…, cu…” etc. His family are obviously very protective - he’s still only 21, still a child in many ways. They shouldn’t have reacted, but it happens, it’s intimidating. Thank god whichever family member who seriously wound up didn’t connect with that extinguisher.

I think naive is the best word to describe the actions of Foden’s camp here.

With hindsight they should have laughed off the abuse and shut the door. However, most people will react when they are being verbally abused and intimidated.

There was a time when if you abused someone and got a crack as a result it was deserved. Nowadays it seems like those who dish out the initial abuse become the victims. It’s like it’s socially acceptable to verbally abuse people.
