Russian invasion of Ukraine

Anyone else picking up vibes from Washington that, even if Russia attacked a NATO partner, the US wouldn't want to get involved in a war with Russia?
If no one will pay for their services, then they will not be involved. Unless if its against China, that's the real threat to them.

But would they defend NATO members against Russia, with their nuclear arsenal ?
I'm not so certain they would
Yes, of course they would.

Not to do so would end NATO against the most likely enemy.

The nuclear stuff is overblown, I think, unless the entire nation of Russia was threatened with destruction.

The Chinese will be our new overlords one day, better start learning Mandarin

Seeing Ukraine’s president really does show you there are still great leaders out there. I just hope the guy can survive as he’s no doubt target number one for the Russians to try and destroy morale.
He was a TV comedian when he got elected. Now he is a statesman and a very brave one at that. When the gutless coward and gangster Putin eventually has him tracked down and no doubt has him killed that will be real low point in world history.

Feel genuinely sorry for the people of Ukraine. But as outsiders, the way I see it it’s literally NATO and the West causing trouble on one side vs an egotistical and expansionist Russia on the other side.

As always we are just pawns in geo politics and the west also has blood on their hands.
You’re also the guy that wants them to immediately surrender also yeah? I’ll repeat I’m glad I’m not stuck in a trench with you. You sound like a twat and one that’s very wrong at that.

I think we are especially bothered by this because it's on the doorstep of Europe and frankly Ukrainians look like us. If they were a bit further away and brown or yellow we'd probably just shake our heads, shrug our shoulders and think it's not good but ultimately get on with our lives. We take exactly the same stance as India/UAE are here on various conflicts and atrocities around the world every day.
I'm afraid that type of nuance is frowned upon on here but well said for saying it.

Don'tr really rate a lot of the shit that Brand comes out with, but it's worth having a look at the view outside the main narrative.

That seems to ignore thatUkraine doesn't want to be a province of Russia.

It seems to pretty much wash hands and abandon them. Ghastly take on it with no alternative that would be a resolution.

How downright insulting offensive and wrong.
The only bit you got right is that it's on the doorstep of Europe.

Did you hear the comments of the UAE representative? She was pretty clear that the Russian action was wrong and that the territorial integrity of member states had to be respected.

They have an excellent relationship with Russia and sometimes a critical friend having a quiet word can be more effective than someone hostile screaming in your face. I'd be more interested in what they're saying to Putin privately than meaningless gestures in the useless UN talking shop.
Hi, I did, I doubt that statement will be picked up by the media that focus on City. I was a bit weary last night, in the grand scheme of things City do not matter.

I see your point, but two important facts firstly it is in Europe and it was an unprovoked invasion by a world nuclear power.
