Peterborough (A) | Post Match Thread

If I heard it right Dixon said something about Fernandinho holding onto the Peterborough players arm? Then the other dickhead on comentating said something about Fernandinho usually being quite good at talking his way out of those situations?
I didnt really understand any of it, looked to me like Fern had just been wrestled to the ground but apparently not?
He held his arm when their player put it around his neck so he couldn’t release it mate.

The ball and then that touch from Jack for the goal. He’s really starting to settle now. We missed him against spurs. Hope plays on Sunday as he’s the sort of player you need against the rags.

Grealish cuts in so often like Mahrez but rarely does he shoot. He needs to be a bit more selfish. He was good last night. One of our 3 best players with Mahrez and Foden.

It's good that Foden delivered on the pitch after a difficult time for him. His Mum and family will be very proud of him. That man is made of the right stuff.

glad to see skill and patience came on top, great goals that made the difference. Peterborough could have caused upset.

enjoyed the grealish interview after, do we still have fans saying he isnt up to much "big fish small pond", usual crap.

Grealish is going to be outstanding for us over time, it’s difficult for any player to adapt to Peps demanding ways, especially after coming from a club where he just played wherever he wanted.. Next season he will realise his true potential and the haters can fuck right off…!
His goal was world class and I’m chuffed to fuck for him…

I think the same, Grealish is playing within himself, making few mistakes, but just needs to gamble a bit more with his final ball, or like you say, have a shot. He is quality, and although he comes across as a very confident lad ,is probably lacking in confidence a bit at the minute.

Agreed, it seems a very natural and comfortable movement for him and he can strike the ball cleanly, something he should work on to perfect, imo.

unlikely for Pep to encourage "gambling" , risking losing possession, plus JG is still auditioning for a regular starting spot. An element of safety-first at this stage must be on his mind. That pitch was prepared to make our one-touch interpassing as difficult as possible, on a flat pitch it is our best most effective weapon, and Jack has the ability to fit in and prosper.
Totally different to his role at AV, but "time will tell" as they say.

I thought we were terrible last night , just didn't look interested. Mahrez was having an awful second half but then scored a great goal out of nowhere. Given the amount of defenders they had in the box and the angle he was at that was a great goal.
I thought Grealish was poor up until his goal and again that was a great goal. Foden's pass and Grealish's run ,first touch and finish was sublime. We need to see more of this.
Not for the first time I thought Foden stepped up last night against lower league teams and dragged us over the line
John Stones is our best defender at the moment and should start at centre back.

Most positive thing I took from last night was Phil playing that deeper position. Think he's done enough learning different positions and needs his own spot We've been a bit flat of late and hopefully he can add the something extra we need along with Jack also showing really good signs now.

I think this is not part of Pep's instructions. The number of times I was calling SHOOT! last night. Only Gundog had his hearing aid switched on. How many football games are won with a wee bet on a shot. I often think that we do not play to a packed defence's weakness - you can block a shot but you can't guarantee where it's going.
