Maybe if you have no idea what an organisation is don’t share your thoughts about it on a public domain prior to educating yourself about the basic setup of aforementioned organisation.I think NATO should of been more prepared for this. Nato forces should of been considerably enlarged in the Baltics, Poland, and other NATO countries bordering Ukraine, and actually covertly in Ukraine. Ukraine made many preparations for an invasion and thats why they have been incredible defending their country.
If Nato had of enlarged their presence in Nato countries bordering Ukraine and Russia Putin would of thought twice about invading Ukraine, NATO did hardly anything, where are the Nato forces including the Americans?
If Nato had of been fully prepared and ready would the decision to invade Ukraine by Putin been made, I doubt it.
If he had still made the decision to invade Nato would of been ready, and could of raced to kiev securing the capital, and securing two thirds of Ukraine. This could of been done without Nato firing a shot in anger and completely wrong footing Putin. It just seems to me we have not reacted to an obvious and building threat from Putin when a show of strength and support for Ukraine would of stopped him in his tracks.
Just my thoughts
World super powers, with the ability to wipe out the world are, erm, generally treated with far more concern, as a rule.I have been thinking back to another crisis not to long ago and what happened there. A certain Arab country invaded another Arab country. Certain western countries didn’t like it so got together and threw out that Arab country. Will we do the same here or is this different??

Those Arab countries don’t have a veto on the security council if the UN therefore resolutions were passedI have been thinking back to another crisis not to long ago and what happened there. That's a little harsh. The poster was just showing genuine concern and disillusionment at the lack of apparent options the west has, at this time.I think that you might get a call with the offer of being NATO new strategic military expert. You're wasted on here
That’s the irony -should the Russians fail Ukraine is 100% ending up in NATONATO is a defensive organisation, not an invasive one. NATO poses no threat to Russia. Members join through cohesion not coercion. There was little NATO could do to prevent this situation. Once Ukraine felt it necessary to join NATO for its own protection, Russia acted.
Yes, had Ukraine been a member of NATO Russia would never have attacked, but as shown, once Ukraine showed interest in becoming a member, Russia invaded to prevent their membership becoming a factor. Ukraine has few political allies and are effectively (aside from aid and munitions being donated) on their own. Once a ceasefire has been announced, and Ukraine accepted into NATO, Russia will see it as game over and back off as a fight against NATO (especially without Chinese support) is a fight they know they cannot win, nukes or no nukes.
If putin didn’t have nukes, yes.I have been thinking back to another crisis not to long ago and what happened there. A certain Arab country invaded another Arab country. Certain western countries didn’t like it so got together and threw out that Arab country. Will we do the same here or is this different??
I am aware that NATO is a group of countries that guarantee the security of each other. Clearly I am no expert but now many of those NATO countries are going to be under more threat now Ukraine has been invaded.Maybe if you have no idea what an organisation is don’t share your thoughts about it on a public domain prior to educating yourself about the basic setup of aforementioned organisation.
The Nuclear threat says yes.I have been thinking back to another crisis not to long ago and what happened there. A certain Arab country invaded another Arab country. I think it's more the chinese influence than russia, they're (china) building road/rail/hospitals/schools across the continent and have been for nearly a decade now, so if china says "abstain" they'll abstain, you can't really blame them for that, without china they;d get nothing. only 1 african country went with russia, a country that ranks worse than north korea in press freedom.Yep. And so will Chinese be.
I guess we all suspected this anyhow as the CIA called it whilst the games were on - as If 2 years of bullshitting about covid wasn’t enough

And unfortunately WW3 would have ensued and a catastrophe on a far larger scale even than the one we are seeing currently. If he had still made the decision to invade Nato would of been ready, and could of raced to kiev securing the capital, and securing two thirds of Ukraine.
Nato does deter Putin. In conventional warfare nato massively out powers the Russian military in air sea and land. A fuck tonne of shit tanks & mech artie isn’t anything for nato to worry about in 2020s it’s not 1970. The only reason nato allows him to be such a **** is the realistic prospect he’s mad enough to use nukes and destroy his country and half the world in the process.I am aware that NATO is a group of countries that guarantee the security of each other. Clearly I am no expert but now many of those NATO countries are going to be under more threat now Ukraine has been invaded.
If Putin succeeds in Ukraine then the Baltic countries could be next. Could NATO of done more to deter Putin? I personally think NATO could of done more.
And leave your citizens at the mercy of people they don't want ?If it was me I’d withdraw from Donbass and Luhansk and the nearby southern parts dominated by ethnic Russians and hold the line there

It wasn't in Russia neither but it probably will be soon, and then Putin will turn his attention to the Baltic states. All this sounds like a plan. The Ukraine isn’t in NATO though.
It's looking more and more likely that Moldova's Transnistria region and potentially Sweden and Finland are next on Putin's radar. None of these nations are in NATO (although they have expressed interest). That should begin to tell you more about Putin's tactics.I am aware that NATO is a group of countries that guarantee the security of each other. Clearly I am no expert but now many of those NATO countries are going to be under more threat now Ukraine has been invaded.
