Russian invasion of Ukraine

TL;DR expert analysis shows Russian Air force to be absolutely wank.
A very interesting read, and from reading elsewhere today they have lost at least 3 fast jets and a helicopter to the weapons mentioned today alone.

It's basic stuff like hiding ranks etc, they really are shite.
Trouble is they have to wear those massive cap things to prove to the squaddies they are senior officers. They stand out like a sore thumb. Even if they wear the winter furry ones like the troops the officer ones have a big brass fuck off cap badge built into the hat.
As you say shite

I think saying you cannot differentiate between ordinary Russian citizens and Putin and the military is insensitive to be honest.

I know she’s said stupid insensitive things in the past but she’s right there. She’s not calling for sanctions to stop, she’s just saying let’s not take it out on ordinary Russians, many of who are now in jail for protesting this.
I don’t disagree with the sentiment and as you alluded to earlier, @Petrusha in here is the perfect example.
However, the removal of Putin is not going to be done by the West. It will only be done by the Russian people themselves and as such I would be in favour of hitting them culturally, sportingly and in business. Particularly if this means Russian people living outside of Russia are impacted as there is an onus on them to do something about the Putin regime. They cannot sit back comfortably and allow those that protest in their country to be carted of to a Gulag and complain about sanctions that are afflicting them.

Collectively, it is the responsibility of the Russian people to combat the misinformation or be part of it. It is the responsibility of the Russian people to condemn or condone Putin’s and their country’s actions. It is their responsibility to remove the regime by whatever means possible.
As harsh a view as this may seem, it is in my view the only way ultimately, that anything will change in Russia. Putin has to be removed from the inside. Russian people need to put the pressure on, for this to happen. Ordinary Russians will suffer. Ordinary Ukrainians are now suffering.
We will all suffer, relatively, because of sanctions. Ordinary Russians are certainly not exempt.

Edit: I just checked and worryingly @petrusha doesn’t seem to be on the forum anymore. I hope this is something temporary for his own safety.

I see the death toll of senior Russian officers is mounting. Putin demanding they go to the front line and get Russian troops moving forward. Trouble is they wear different uniforms and Ukrainian snipers take them out.
What a shame.

A sniper shouldn`t miss, it`s not as if they can keep a low profile wearing those hats

Very well put. And the Russians are lucky that they haven't been demonised by the enemy that they created. Ukrainian forces have treated captive Russians with dignity and respect.

Don't believe that.
i dont but it could make sense in the long run, those soldiers now trapped in the cities are now sitting ducks for artillery fire, maybe they should be pulling as many back towards the west and re group,re supply weapons and along with those fresh fighters coming over the Polish boarder they would have a decent progrsive push at regaining the country back all this while fresh supplies for food and weapons is coming in from behind them,a long drawn out war taking many years im afraid
