Russian invasion of Ukraine

but those in the chain could be and most likely be acting on false information, any normal military person (sane) would press the button if the requirements were there to do so,the chain of command could be told the USA have launced when infact they have not
The generals will have more ideal what's happening than putin.

So, what you are saying is the US can launch a nuc or two and the upper echelons of the Russian military and political offices would have no idea. Ok

Tip for you:

Place a piece of bread under your Chicken Kiev before you cook it.

When you take it out of the oven you've got a bonus piece of garlic bread and haven't wasted your nice juices.

You're welcome.

I’ve not had a chicken kyiv for years, but know what I’m having for dinner now.

Wise words from someone who suffered the worst of a previous Russian dictatorship.

Hope petrusha is okay.

Putin who has banned social media and there’s a sentence of 15 years of prison for any criticism, including foreign journalists.

You really think we’re victims of propaganda in the same way for listening to what the BBC and Sky are reporting on the ground?

You’re not on planet Earth, you’re clearly so far down the rabbit hole there’s no way out for you.

People abused you because whilst residential areas are being shelled in the Ukraine and innocent men women and children killed, you come on this website pushing the same propaganda Putin did to justify his atrocities.
Listened to Dorries the other day saying how proud she was of the BBC, exposing what was going on in Russia, and keeping not only us but the Russian people informed, with not one jot of self awareness or even irony………

Just gone to our local petrol station to get some fuel, 160p for petrol, 175 for diesel, told them I'd need a mortgage to buy anything there and was told it was due to the trouble in Ukraine lol, just robbing bastards

Agreed. Seen a few people on here trot out the “they’re just kids” line.

Every single Russian soldier who sets foot in Ukraine uninvited wants either dragging to The Hague or a bullet in the head.

The Nuremberg defence is weak piss and knocks me sick.
We see and hear a lot of hand wringing about Russian troops, how they're just kids, they're
frightened, they don't want to be there, etc; Although it's a natural human reaction, to anyone with
any humanity, it's also a profoundly naive and dangerous view imo, when brutal invaders attack your land, kill your citizens and attempt to control the population by force. These 'Kids' need to be eliminated without mercy, Russian families must see thousands of body bags returning, mothers crying, and questioning the reasons for it. Destroying morale is one of the most effective methods of conducting a war.

The BBC often goes after the UK government. So much so that the Prime Minister ran away from them for so long.

My problem with the BBC is their Rag infested Sports dept.

Say it quietly, don't get excited yet, but is it just starting to seem possible the Ukrainians might even defeat most of this?

Increasing reports about the state of the Russian army and Air force, and the destruction of Russian materiel.

Maybe wishful thinking, certainly at least a dose of Ukraine propaganda, but still, could they repel the Russians in some or even most of the country?

Eg

I think its possible, even with thier weaponary and training, the Russians are outnumbered vs the civilian population who are united for the most part against the invasion. Unfortunately a win does not mean the country wont be devastated in the meantime.

And so they should go after government, although they don’t do it enough for me.
They do force others to up their game though, especially in the news world. Sky, ITV and C4 are excellent which becomes ever more apparent if you spend a week in the states.

Seems a change of plan maybe from the Russians, looks to me they've given up trying to 'conventionally' win and heading for a power station seize to do a modern day blockade, suppose it's a cheaper option and while it'll save Russian lives won't make life any easier for the Ukraines.

I don't think they go after the government as much as they should, if by going after them you mean asking hard questions and holding them to account.

You're absolutely right about the second bit though and you can add the dipper fetish to that as well. Does leave me a bit conflicted about the beeb but overall would rather not be without it.

The last fortnight has shown how important some things we take for granted are.

A free press that has the government on the run a lot of the time.

Living in a liberal democracy.

Our relationship with the rest of Europe and how important they are as allies (of course the US too).

NATO.

I never thought about them day to day as I’m not that bothered about politics but I’m bloody grateful for them all now.

Do you expect sports coverage to be as impartial and objective as general news content is meant to be?
