The Conservative Party

I think you’re being a bit harsh here.
Given the focus of attention on Russian money flooding into the Tory party, it’s quite possible that Sunak has to pay out of his own pocket for his nice new tennis court, gym, and swimming pool at his very expensive large country house.
Its going to cost a lot- I hope he has enough to get by after.
Do any of his houses have a prepayment meter?

I hate tory ministers. They are patronising and belittling of the public.

They make out that we OWE the government.

It was them who put us in lockdown and forced businesses to shut. I can't fathom how we've been foot with the bill. Truly scandalous, whilst facing rocketing energy prices and inflation.

Nicola needs to get her finger out.
No, we Scots do. We need to realise that eternal Tory rule is not the way forward, or even a Tory Lite Labour gov. It shoukd be clear that England will always return them and that os their right t do so. But we havent voted for them in 70 years in a majority and yet we always have them lording it over us with their greed is good, fuck the poor and vulnerable. We need an economy that is entrepreneurial but fair in using the weath generated more equitably. The Scandanavians manage it. We can too. But will we get off our knees and stop tugging our forelocks? I have to be honest and say I am not filled with confidence.

Hello!

So, I voted Tory last time round for various reasons which I've mentioned on here previously so I won't bother going over those again.

I was under no illusions about Johnson, I always thought he was a dick but I genuinely thought he would have the sense to surround himself with highly capable people. Sadly, I was wrong, he has surrounded himself with useless lackeys.

I sure as hell won't be voting Tory again whilst Johnson is in charge.

Currently, Kier Starmer seems to be steering Labour towards more centrist policies so I can see me voting that way in the next election.
Cheers mate. This is an attempt to have genuine conversation rather than it being an echo chamber and your thoughts are very similar to my own. Johnson wants to be a nice guy and with the right Cabinet, probably would be. But, he chose, or maybe pushed, to have those people so that says a lot about his mentality.

Starmer has opened many eyes and the more people see of him, the more the pendulum swings.

In effect then you vote Tory because Socialism scares you as indicated by you saying you could vote for a centrist Labour party.

A genuine question for anybody who voted for the current government, what are your thoughts on how they are doing and what do you see going forward?
Let's have a guess:
"It's not what I voted for."
"Corbyn would have been worse."
"It would have been OK if it wasn't for Covid."
"It's because of Putin."
"It's the fault of the EU for treating us as a non-EU country just because we aren't in the EU."

You missed out my favourite piece of bullshit

‘They’re all the same’

Spring mini budget 2022 - Sunak found 50bn down the back of the sofa but instead of using it now to benefit the poorest who will be hit most by price rises, he kept it back to fund a cut in income tax in two years time which will be of most benefit to the better off.

I’m really intrigued as when I ask people at work they seem to quickly change the subject. Not sure why, I would like to have a genuine conversation on how they feel the government have done and what are their expectations going forward.

And, it’s not me getting annoyed with it, it’s them.

Actually think it's q encouraging that people want to quickly change the subject and move on as we seem to have been living in an era of intense doubling down. People backed themselves into a corner and seemed to have been looking to save face by lurching to an even more extreme opinion. If they're being a bit coy about it i hope that means they know they've been had and are quietly going to bin this shower off at the next opportunity.

1p off the basic rate is more like £5bn

He will do potentially much more ahead of the next OFGEM price change in October, dependent of course on how big that price rise is, but being cynical it suits him politically to wait until the autumn and let Johnson get the blame for a drubbing in the May local elections.

Johnson gets a kicking in May, is under pressure all summer and then Sunak rides to the rescue when Parliament gets back in the autumn, using the funds gained by his fiscal prudence etc. A cynical view but then it’s a cynical world, isn’t it?

Chief exec of P&O just told a parliamentary commitee that DP World had a conversation with the Transport Secretary in Dubai last November about cutting the buisness operations.

That's good.
So of the 50bn, he's kept 45bn back.
Got an extra 11bn from graduates.
Now 56 bn in 'credit'.
Fuel duty reduction in effect cost him nothing.
NI threshold cost ten bob (say 10bn).
That still leaves a 45bn war chest to help people?

and those people he wants to help most are the top 10% earners - more cuts in business tax - more cuts for bankers - I thought it was interesting that he said he was planning on cutting the basic rate of income tax to 19p - no mention of higher rate - wouldn't mind betting the £45bn reserves might include a nice sweetener at the top end too - you have to encourage those wealth creators doncha know?

The biggest injustice is to people like me - self employed and got nothing during the lockdown off the Govt who now expect me to pay THEIR debts.....

Photo op filling up one of his office teams car or does he expect us to believe that he a multi-millionaire drives a Kia Rio?

Get yourselves down to Sainsbury's and lob a few litres of what Rishi was using - his Rio turned into a Range Rover and is about to morph into a private jet - good stuff that E10 fuel

Ha ha ha - turns out "Sunak's Rio" was in fact a car belonging to an employee at the filling station - fuck me they are useless
