Taylor Hawkins RIP

Yeah, got tickets for that gig too. Will be the umpteenth time I’ve seen them. Like you say, not arsed whether it goes ahead or not but going forward, I’m struggling to see how he can be replaced as he really was that good. Bands often fill the void after the death of a member and carry on but it won’t feel the same watching the Foos without Taylor around.

RIP a fantastic musician and a top bloke.

Foos have had a few differnt members but Taylor was such a key member and not many drummers are going to step and sing Queen songs; unless they are Roger Taylor.

Of course there are some great drummers that could be drafted in but it wouldn't be the same.

I'm going to see The Rolling Stones a few days before the Foos' gig is scheduled and that will be a bit odd without Charlie being there.

Fucking hell. At aged 50.and with kids you'd think he'd have known better and got the wild days out of his system.

"Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins 'had ten different drugs in his system including heroin, marijuana, antidepressants and opioids' when he died in Colombia hotel"

Antidepressants might be the key here. Perhaps he was having mental health struggles and trying to medicate those. Being a rich famous rock star doesn't preclude you from being depressed, for instance. All sorts of possibilities but the truth will ou; however, it won't change the fact this is a sad situation.

Having a heart twice the size of a normal adult, heroin and other opiods are the key here sadly.

I felt the same when Brian Johnson left ACDC albeit temporarily and he was replaced by Axel Rose, it didn't feel right and he was n't the right lead vocalist for the band. I appreciate replacing a drummer and a lead vocalist is different, but for all Foofighter fans Taylor was a god and to some extent irreplaceable.

So young, could happened to any of us (if we were completely off our tits on over half a dozen class A’s in Columbia)

I was due to see them again in June but I do wonder if we’ll ever see the Foos perform again unless it’s some sort of tribute for Taylor.. With what happened to Nirvana I wonder if Dave Grohl might call it a day band wise..

The same for Rush since “The Professor” Neil Peart died.. I don’t think they’ll ever perform again (unless I’ve missed something)

Really feel for Dave Grohl, the Foos were such a tight knit, close band. This will be very hard to come back from and like yourself I can see them calling it a day.

Heroin and opioids?

Did he also have marijuana and weed and ganja?

That doesn't sound like a particularly scientific report, and if he was antidepressants he could have been on a cocktail of prescribed stuff.

Probably best to wait for the full results including amounts to come out from the coroner.

It's an ongoing relevant thread so people are posting stuff as it breaks.

Stuff like tramadol and that shows up differently in basic tox tests. Heroin shows as diamorphine

They are both opioids, no serious publication would make that mistake - The BBC didn't for example.

I don't know where paulchapo pulled that as he didn't link, but it wasn't a good source.

It's also all irrelevent without knowing the amounts. THC can hang around for a month in urine, so without knowing amounts all we know is he had a spliff at some point over the last month. Some newspapers are reporting benzodiazepines are one of the drugs, they stick around for 6 weeks.

It's a nice scandalous story to say 10 drugs were in his system, but it's not responsible journalism.

It was from a tabloid headline, probably why it's sensationalised, if it's incorrect. They are now reporting his heart weighed twice as much as an average male.

Depends on how each jurisdiction reports drugs. The presence of 6-MAM is the detection of heroin, but heroin also produces other by products such as codeine and morphine.

So the opioids could be in reference to the above or a separate substance that was also detected. Mixing alcohol, opiates and AD is a lethal combination.

such a shame...

Foos are one of my favourite bands and Taylor was a huge part of it..

Feel so sorry for his family but also for Dave Grohl....going through this again (whatever the reasons for Taylors death) will hit him very very hard.......we might not see or hear from him in for quite a while at a guess which is such a shame as well

While it may take several weeks for official confirmation as to the cause of death, I don't think that too many will be surprised at the early speculation re drugs, given his past.

TBF, I went to see AC/DC with Axl and he did a really good job and it worked better than I thought it might but it was different. Mind you, I still miss Bon Scott.

Rush will never perfom again but Lifeson and Lee will keep working and may do something together. Lifeson has a solo album out soon.

I'm not really a Foo Fighters fan, but am I right in saying Taylor Hawkins was only the touring drummer and not part of the recording/ writing band ? If so it's not really the same as Neil Peart. Although how Dave Grohl moves on will be down to how he feels.
