I love your description of Mods and their scooters. Man they were the business. Smart, not scruffy, tasty not slimy, music not noise, if I was to regret anything, it would be missing out on the Torch, Manchester and Wigan Casino. Brilliant music, great scene, everything.
I went to "The Golden Torch" in Tunstall ,near Stoke-on-Trent twice in 1972.
It was one of the 3 legendary venues of Northern Soul ,along with The Twisted Wheel and Wigan Casino.

Liverpool fans who make Steaua Bucharest jokes as a dig at Everton are the scum of the earth. If 97 of our fans had died at Hillsborough, these cunts would be cheering.

(Twisted Wheel was way before my time, sadly. Jilly's Rockworld was more my scene.)

Half right so your average is improving.
If you hear a story about an old BSA with a wooden banana box on a sidecar chassis going past the Oasis kicking over scooters. It was not me in the box which was painted to look like a coffin.
Not me at all but it did cause alarm to bus passengers at traffic lights when the 'body' (not me) sat up suddenly.
How did l forget the mods who used to wear pale pink lipstick. Didn't it clash with your blue dummies?.

;)

I had 'Skinhead" and "Suedehead" by Richard Allen. (paperback of course).
I bet Bonzo had "Chopper"!!!
Oops here comes another one.;)
Its nice to know the tale of my chopper is still part of Manchester folk lore. Those mod girls just couldn't keep their mouths shut. They liked the mod men for dancing but preferred something more manly when the music stopped.
