I despair as well flook, because in todays world you felt the need to clarify this in a perfectly transparent observation.

The 'support' probably stems from the influence Russia has in these countries. You can only imagine the 'support' China would get if they were involved.

worth noting the collapse in the Russian birth rate since the 1920's - 100 years of decreased fertility. What does that mean? The age old Russian tactic of throwing troop numbers as dumb farming conscripts as cannon fodder is over - they now have a lot of well educated lads but insufficient numbers to deploy in the traditional Russian manner

insecure is my guess which pinpoints Putins problem,he thinks the world is ganging up on him and this is the mess he has created, the latest threatening speech from Putin would have raised an eybrow a few weeks back but not now its in one ear and out the other,bullshit threats and he hasnt the balls to start something with NATO, he's a happy man in his own little world commiting genocide from his back yard where he cant be touched, i think they call people like him cowards

Do wonder if there will start to be the odd story of retribution in other countries. There was a new Belorussian plated car in my blocks car park today. They'd covered the seats in ukranian flags, guessing they're hoping no one would do anything to it.

It’s inevitable because people will want to be seen to be doing ‘their bit’, however inconsequential. It’s completely unfair on those individuals who are on the receiving end, of course, but there will be a sense of people wanting to get the message across around the levels of disapproval about Russia’s actions.

A calamitous blunder. Every day of this war highlights the importance of high-tech, and Sweden is 9th in the world in high tech manufacturing value added and Finland 17th. Russia trails at a lowly 49th, and that’s before sanctions deprive it further. Finland also has a highly trained reserve.

Putin has ostensibly fast-tracked their NATO membership, and their combined GDP is more than half that of Russia’s. Presumably someone in the Kremlin receives a medal ribbon for such visionary thinking.
