Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Let’s be honest, early leavers are mostly selfish with no regard for the bigger picture when it comes to atmosphere.

I say mostly as there will always be a few cases of people who have to travel back to the other end of the country or to their daughters birthday party but for the most part it’s a choice and it has infected us like a virus in terms of atmosphere and general attitude towards not turning up, turning up late, going to the bar early etc.

Age old argument though, it’ll never change as they’ll never be told what to do, free country etc as they always say when people complain about it.

The banter between South and Kippax yesterday was a laugh............."Who the fuckin hell are you?"

Watford calling our support shit when they filled the lower tier only and about 4 in the 2nd ....funny.
There is no rivalry with them either so no motivation and cruising the match doesnt help......think many are nervous about us slipping up too.

It emptied fast yesterday and lots of no shows. People were leaving in every single part of the stadium.

As I've previously said it has been going on years even at Maine Road in the 70's not just since the 90's and will never ever stop but it seems to be getting worse not better.

The phone ticket thing is a joke...bring back cards
Sort out the transport system.
Took me an hour to travel 5 miles yesterday...Ashton New Road is a car park up to the Snipe.

I have left early once since moving to the new stadium and it made a huge difference.
The so called phone ticket thing has been a success for me.
What has that got to do with atmosphere.

It is what it is. I always enjoy going to the game, sometimes I sing, sometimes I’m a bit quieter. Don’t really care much whether it’s a good or flat atmosphere, nor what others think about us.

Better public transport would help so more can have a few pints, that always improves the loudness of our support I find. Until that is done we’re stuck with what we have.

I must admit 5-1 up or not 90% of the north stand empty with 8-9 mins to go on a 3pm KO when we are fighting to retain our title is quite sad imho, players must think it is shit, I would.

I will admit I cannot see what the colin bell looks like from my spot, but it also looks like it equally empties

You do everything in life exactly to the law and the letter do you? Perhaps North Korea is more for you.

The Etihad is in a big city so will always be hard to get away from, its something I except.

Grounds like Norwich, Brighton we have found easy to get away from. I think most grounds are difficult to get away from

I dont like to see people leaving early as I think the players and owners deserve better

I will give you one example yesterday as to why people were leaving early, that wind ! It was freezing during second half and most like me were dressed for a nice spring afternoon, but Christ it was cold

Take those words to the letter if you want mate, but you know what I’m getting at. They don’t want to listen to reasons why it’s just shit behaviour for a fan base. Absolutely dreadful the scenes like that yesterday. Probably 30,000 had left with over 5 minutes playing time remaining.

But life has changed so much in the last 20/30 years. People have concerts, meals and family events booked on Saturday nights and it just isn’t possible sometimes to get back home and change in time if you leave at the whistle. There will be all sorts of reasons why people need to get away early and it’s really none of our business. Enough people stay behind, me included, to applaud the players whatever the result. The players understand that fans have lives too.

I have a nice high up seat on east stand level 1 but at 80 minutes I started to feel the heat of the sun and suddenly realised how hot many people lower down the terraces would have been all game especially those who wrapped up, the same when it’s pissing down. When the team decides to manage the game out I can see why many fans decide to bolt. Many of those low seats are shit views in the first place.

Sorry but Old Trafford is exactly the same............I've driven past on home games and they are leaving in droves before final whistle.

City fans have no passion for our club? Get to fuck boss
Yeah, because they're shit af now. Losing week after week, Why would they stay? when they were good under Fergie, hardly any would leave early during title run ins and close games, I'm talking about the Etihad. We play the best football ever played in English football history imo and our atmosphere is still bad, the passion is still lacking. We are in an epic title race with scousers and fans always leave early regardless of the score. Doesn't really matter anyway, the players proved last season they don't need an atmosphere or passionate to win the league or big CL games. Thank God we have Pep.

don’t think I agree with at. Just seems like a list of excuses. You do not see the level of early leavers we have at other grounds. A lot of those fans at Liverpool for example don’t live anywhere near their ground either - you don’t see as many leaving there.

a lot of the people you describe must have lots of money to waste to justify paying for tickets and missing so much football. Seems like lots of them aren’t that bothered about the match and go out of habit.

I keep hearing how we’ve always had early leavers. When we were going for the league under Mancini or trying to get a champions league spot it was no where near as bad.

jesus christ

someone was just moaning on this thread how cold they were with that " wind " yesterday

lets just admit ,our fanbase just is nowhere near passionate as it once was

a bloke below your thread was mentioning how " hot " it was in the sun yesterday.

ffs

Sadly I am not able to get to games much nowadays, but I never left early when I was a regular.I always thought I might miss the best goal ever (93:20) and an extra ten minutes in traffic was worth it.

If it were up to me the first thing I’d do is have minimal ‘entertainment’ in the ground before kick off. You’ve got City Square for that. The PA drowns out any chance of even talking to people around you, never mind heaven forbid, making our own entertainment.. like singing! Even if it was only for ten minutes before kick off it would help.
