CFG Expansion | Başakşehir to join? (p70)

Were I not a City fan, I would be saying well done to Breda. We have a fantastic project but the fans have to be behind such a takeover for the club really belongs to them, whoever the owners are.
Agree in principle, but there's always the danger that a smallish group of vociferous fans give a false impression of the overall pros & cons, that the majority of 'silent' fans then feel they have to go along with ?

One day our owner might buy Ajax and turn us into there feeder club. How would you like that.

I think they would be better off in CFG but ultimately their fans are against it, so good luck to them.

Let's look for another dutch club with fans who can see the vision, and keep moving forward.
Without sounding arrogant, if their club agreed a sale for £6 million, I’m sure there‘s a team out there we can acquire.

And yeah fair enough, got to respect their fans wishes.

I take it City know this is Mafia country?

Palermo play in Pink. I don't think their fans and Ultras will take too kindly to City changing the badge or colour of the kit if City want to integrate Palermo into the CFG?

Ultras in Italy are very powerful and have an unofficial, but accepted say on club matters, which sometimes brings them into direct conflict with the owner/s of the club.

I hope City have done their homework on Italian fan/Ultra terrace culture?

City Football Group will pay around €6 million for Palermo and it’s clear that their value will only continue to rise as the years go by. This will likely have important sporting results for the Sicilian side, who are preparing for the Serie B play-offs.

The two parties are now in constant talks and work is ongoing to close out a deal soon, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports. Mirri will retain a share and will hold a representative role at the club following the takeover

They havent changed the team colours or badge in about 8 clubs now. They are happy to take a slice and leave the branding as is for any they dont own 100%. New York,Melbourne & Montevideo fell inline the rest stayed the same.

I think they want to have a common brand amongst the the bigger clubs

hard to remember that mcfc is not the be-all and end-all in the CFG project. Flagship, biggest most famous of course, but CFG is building into a global giant, not just a nursery.
We expected a stream of cherry-picked talent to end up at the Etihad, but it's clear the Sheik is bent on establishing a presence around the world, as priority number one, if any gems turn up that's a bonus. As a kfa of many years, that's my take on it up to now. Cant see any down-side for City.
