^^ Amazing JRB.
Really starting to take on form now.

Yeah!

The pictures don't do the size of the arena justice.

Might be hard to visualize, but this shot shows the future bowl of the arena, and gives an indication of the size of it.

A CGI of the exterior/cladding of the arena on the hoardings. (is that Phil Foden in the Hot Dog van?)

I've seen a mockup of the exterior cladding onsite. I took a couple of pictures of the exterior cladding on the QT, which I've never posted. Sadly I've deleted the pictures by accident.

The exterior cladding is much duller looking than the shiny, almost reflective exterior cladding on the CGI. The exterior cladding is more plastic looking. The slats are more noticable. It's going to make the exterior of the arena look very dark and solid looking. I'm not sure if that's going to be a good or bad thing? I definitely think the arena and it's exterior will devide opinion.

Let’s be honest, when the Etihad Campus and arena is finished it will be wanted to be seen as a world-class facility. At the moment we have a decent stadium but it isn’t world-class is it, compared to other new designs. It therefore is a necessity that the Etihad Stadium itself is upgraded and expanded to fit in with this end desire. I expect within the next five-ten years the entire complex will be finished and we’ll have a 65k super-stadium capable of hosting any major European/FIFA football matches. It stands to reason.

Looks like it will completely dwarf the Etihad in those photos, not sure I like the idea of City being tucked away and dominated by it. Are there any design images of the end product with the stadium in view?

i think it could take some time maybe longer than 10 years before it’s all in place. The Arena will be done soon then the Stadium expansion and If rumours are true expanding the CFA but how long before the ideas around the rest of the campus are finalized let alone have planning consent and are built ? No one seems to know what’s going on the rest of the site. How long did it take for Disneyland to get planning and be built ? After the idea was finalized ? That’s the sort of thing we are lead to believe from people on here is going there. How big is the campus ? Is it just round the ground ? Or do they not have other land in mind further afield ? It doesn’t seem big enough for those things once the Arena stadium CFA and some housing in the gas area are accounted for.

Not heard the rumours re expanding the CFA? Can you share anything?

It's a stretch to say it will "dominate" the Etihad, even less so once the North Stand is extended (plus whatever is planned for the E & W stands and the exterior cladding if true).

It’s just the angles.

A 23k arena isn’t going to dwarf a 54k stadium.

I don't think I've seen so many people outside in Manchester with no one vaping or having a fag

It will from the Alan Turing Way. And when any proposal for the Collar site is finally built, bar the masts, you won't be able to see the Etihad Stadium from Alan Turing Way.
