History is littered with stories of managers risking semi fit players and it back firing. From Ronaldo in 1994, Kane in the CL final right through to Stones and Alaba last week. I can remember tonnes of times players being risked, I can't remember one that actually worked. All the developments in the game and yet clubs keep gambling.

Personally I think this is bluster and Walker won't be seen this season, if it not be prepared to be hearing about plenty of hindsight.

Live pictures of him training with the squad, running, twisting, kicking the ball, if it’s bluster he’s up there with Orson Wells for an Oscar!

Great news on Walker

Hopefully he's able to start tomorrow but even if he's not, having him back for the last four league games is huge. We'll be less vulnerable to counter attacks and it means Cancelo can move back to his best position.

I’d very much doubt Kyle to start after one training session.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it confirmed that he trained along with Stones in a closed doors session before the last Madrid game?

He clearly wasn’t ready to be risked for that game, but if that’s right then today won’t be his first training session. He’ll have been involved for about a week.

If he’s been training for a week, I can definitely see him starting tomorrow.

Surely that's simply because there's no story when it works?

If Stones had made it through the match last week, then he's just another player coming back after a minor injury. Nothing to remember.

It's only when the players coming back break down that we realise they weren't fully fit, but there must be regular situations where a player comes back a little early but makes it through a game.

Kyle is an extreme athlete I think if there is no minimum chance of aggregating the injury he plays his fitness will be spot on
No doubt he has been doing his own personal training the last few days, Today is probably his first contact training session, Hopefully all goes well and he is good to go tomorrow.

I think Walkers worth the gamble. His pace is a massive asset against Vinicius.

He can then be wrapped up for 3 of the 4 remaining PL games. Play the last one and then the final. (hopefully)

Walker could be the difference between us making the final or not. Has to be risked. But the club will make the right call on what the risk is. I'm sure they've given him enough time to adequately recover and probably targetted this game.

He is a superb athlete so don't think he needs to spend a few games coming off the bench.

Play him from the start, get the game won and then get him off if we need to.

For me, when Walker is out we are seriously weakened because

(a) we have no pace in defence and are wide open to fast counter-attacks (as demonstrated admirably by Vinicius last week!)
(b) Zinchenko is a huge downgrade on Cancelo, especially going forward
(c) Cancelo at right back is a huge downgrade on his normal left back.

We go from 2 world class full backs, to 2 "meh" full backs.
