Real Madrid (A) Post Match Thread

Typical City is alive and well sadly.
Should have won, didn't.
Regardless of the ref making loads of bizare non-decisions last night and not sending a Real player off after a rather wreckless challenge, we are the architects of our own downfall.
We don't score enough goals from the good chances we create. 1 in 10 last night. Real scored 3 from 5.
Hopefully that will change next season.
It does sound mad when you say out loud that we don't score enough, but for the amount of chances we create we are very uneconomical and have been all season. Two other key vulnerabilities for me are going to sleep while passing it about as if it's a training session and then making a random mistake we get punished for- an area where our beautiful, possession based football is a liability - and the lack of a pure striker who is a serious threat in the box. All these chickens came home to roost last night. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

The only thing more laughable than this post is the fact that 3 people liked it. Utterly deluded. Name 3 keepers who are better and would suit our play

What's laughable is people like yourself who think if a keeper can ping a ball with his feet that he's a world beater.
We might aswell play Kev or Mahrez or any other outfield player in goals, they can also ping a pass but would be equally as shit with their hands.
When Ederson came, he was a breath of fresh air, but he's regressed massively, he saves fuck all, and above all else that's what I want my keeper to do, passing a ball is a bonus.
For overall keeping I wouldn't put him in the top half of the Premier league, he's protected by the team who concede very few chances, which with him on net is a good job.
Top 3 in the world, you need to go and have a kip and clear your head.

I haven’t got over last years final yet, but that was doomed the second the team sheet landed. Last night was a whole new level of disappointment and disbelief, which I see as having a bigger effect alround.
I’m sick of having the murderers rammed down our throat, so pray we can see out the PL and RM & Chelski can see em off, but I don’t see that happening.
The only direct effect we can have on the Dippers is by winning our remaining PL matches. Real & the Chavs have to do their bit & both have reasons to fight tooth & nail against em, just as we have.

I've no complaints over the two legs, aside from the amount of chances we wasted. But we've known about this issue all season.

Last years' final still rankles because we shot ourselves in the foot when there was absolutely no need. That was all on Pep imo.

It took Chelsea 11 year after RA bought the club to win the CL. In recent times the Dippers have had more success in the CL than the PL. ManUre went 30 years between winning their first to their second & then another 10 to win their third.

We've no god given right to win the CL, & time is on our side & there's another oft overlooked scenario.

Between 2012- 2017/18, we were neutered in the transfer market by FFP sanctions. None of the other clubs ever suffered the same fate as we did, so taking out that 5-6 years of stagnation means we've had 8-9 years for the club to operate normally.

Taking into account we didn't achieve CL qualification until 2011/12, that means we've only actually had 5 CL seasons under Sheikh Mansour's ownership where we've qualified for the CL & not had to compete under sanction.

When you look at it like that, our record in this most difficult of knockout competitions isn't that bad. )(

Quick question to anyone with no right answer: Do you feel worse today than the day after losing the UCL final last year?
Felt bewildered last night but felt really gutted after we lost the final. Both losses were mainly self-inflicted. :-(

I felt worse last night… Porto was a fantastic weekend ruined by a fucking crazy starting 11.. We all said in the ground “we’re getting beaten here” So we had all game to accept that Pep had got it massively wrong

Pep rates him. If we sign him in the summer, you'll be fawning over him like a silly schoolgirl.
i actually think he would fit into City quite well, but not as a replacement for KdB but to complement him. I'm not sure we should be writing Kev off at 29. I agree we need to look to the future but that will need careful managing to ensure we don't suffer position wise in the league and cups.

Agree he picked the wrong team. It's the wasted opportunity that was the killer.

Ederson's save percentage (69.3%) in the league this season is the fifth best; it's actually better than Mendy's, who has made a string of spectacular saves.

Alisson's is 4% better but Jose Sa has the best at 77%.

What a disappointment and a hard pill to swallow but we gotta look forward and win the remaining cup finals in the prem. Also a big transfer strategy has to be in place for the summer and it has to start by getting the haaland deal over the line and enough with loaning back alvarez, bring him in in the summer. Thank you for everything raheem but you're time is up mate, sell him nd keep gabby. Find a ferna replacement asap. Also enough with this over exaggerated attack minded fullbacks we recruit, go and find someone with a similar profile as kyle walker (he was sensational last night). Fast, strong and can run up the field if needed.
As for ederson, he rarely ever comes up with a big save for the team, can't even remember the last time he saved a penalty. You only have to look at courtois at the other end of the pitch, was pulling off worldies to keep his team in the game.

We always seem to be the ones getting knocked out when it’s a high scoring tie. Why!? So infuriating. Will we even win this fucking thing

Pep didn't get it massively wrong in Porto, he didn't get it so wrong as to excuse the performance the players gave then.

He picked his strongest available 11 last night and made sensible substitutions but the players fucked it up in the end.

Everyone concerned has to learn and do better.
