Frenkie de Jong

I'm sure City could turn that deal around in one phone call.

The players at both ends would snap your hands off.

I'd be pleased for Sterling, but more pleased we had leveraged such a great player in exchange.

I don't wish Sterling any ill-will but I can see supporters really getting on his back if he is still here next season and not tearing up trees or scoring freely.

A swap would be a great solution for both parties imo.

Foden - Haaland - Sterling looks a great balance for me personally. I'd love to see it a few times before he is gone.. totally understand if someone rocks up with an good offer and the club take it though.

With Haaland in the side his last season with us his stats will stack up big time.

Sterling ready to move to Spain with a young family?

I think he will leave for nowt and end up at Arsenal
I think Arsenal is his most likely move next year on a free. He moves back to London & plays under Arteta who worked with him during his prime years at City.

Arteta having just signed a 3 year extension would love Sterling on a free in his squad. I love Sterling to death, but even I've been forced to face up to a change probably being best for both he & City. Hopefully it can happen this summer & we recoup £40-£50m for him.

As for FDJ, we've got KDB, Bernardo, Foden & Grealish who I see as our midfield 4 going forward with McAtee providing cover. With Fern going, we need a replacement for him as FDJ sounds like more of what we've already got.

No chance should we go into next season with only Rodri as a specialist CDM, & then start relying on converting other midfielders to cover him. We saw the disaster that season where Fern had to play CB after Laporte was out for the season & Gundog was forced to play CDM. In 75% of the games, he was fine but he got gobbled up in the rest as he didn't have the physicality, size or pace to compete against opposing midfield monsters. I don't wanna see us go through that again, so in that respect I don't see the point in FDJ. )(

Indeed. In terms of his pace, he is not far off the level of KDB which is perfectly fine. I would think he is quicker than Rodri and Gundogan.

Watching him play, I think he is best used in the role of the 8/10 but could slip into the 6 role, if required.
I think that versatility is why he'd be perfect. He would only have to play DM a handful of times (hopefully) as Rodri will be there. I dont see any point in shelling big money for a dedicated DM. Much better have someone to take Gundogans role but have the ability to fill in when needed.
