Be interesting to see if the narrative will still be the tories didn't do too badly.......
The BBC coverage of this has been weird, they spent the morning saying Tories did ok and Labour did good but not great. That narrative was still going this evening but as the results come in it is becoming clear this is huge kicking for the government.
Boris may be on borrowed time.
Fair bit of reevaluating going on. The amount of counsellors they’ve lost today was considered in the “disastrous” amount only yesterday.
Daily star - cost of living crisis
The guardian - pm blamed for election disaster

Express - bullish Boris back on track
The Times - tories punished in the South

Breakfast this morning loads of talk of how bad the Tories have done, currently asking Labour bloke if their gains were enough to get a general election victory.
Yeah the media is all about protecting the Tories. Some of you are worse than bloody scousers. Bias you scream.
Look in the mirror you daft sods.
Not the daily mirror they seem more concerned about no balcony invite for Andrew Harry and Meg.
When you consider that Johnson‘s gone from journalist to PM, is it any wonder that this country is being ruled by certain people who have all their keys in the same bowl.![]()
Elections 2022: No breakdown or big breakthrough in uncomfortable night for big parties
These elections were a valuable measure of the battle of the two main parties who seek to govern us.www.bbc.co.uk
That headline is damage limitation.
The closeness to power/tory party of the primary political journalist in the UK is a disgrace. James Forsyth at the Spectator, Harry Cole at the Sun and his boss, Dan hodges at the Mail, Sarah Vine, the list goes on, they all have either directly worked or are married/dated key people in this administration. It is not political analysis this Hello magazine gossip politics. Objective analysis is completely comprised, as political journalists become PR extensions of their mates and social circle.
Laura K at the BBC was effectively Dominic Cummings spokesperson via "sources close to the government". This incestuous relationship with journalist and power on this scale is not normal in other countries.
Exactly. There was an excellent twitter thread below regarding the scarcity of working class journalists in the industry, that basically the ability to support yourself financially early in your career is bigger factor of success than actual talent. When you consider that Johnson‘s gone from journalist to PM, is it any wonder that this country is being ruled by certain people who have all their keys in the same bowl.

They really have been battered, haven’t they. Over 500 projected losses, when they said 350 would be a disaster. Huge losses in the south, further losses elsewhere in England, Wales and Scotland, and the huge slap in the face for many of their policies in Northern Ireland, which this government seem to be pushing them to reunification.
Probably all in-line with what most people thought following an absolute shot-show from Johnson and his brainless puppets.
Oh, it’s going to get worse, that is assured with their policies on the current cost of living crisis. It’s not really kicked in yet and it‘s not just the worst off that it is hitting, it’s now starting to hit those who thought they were in an OK position. This needs to keep going and give them a kicking in a general election. Cost of living going through the roof for the next few years and an economy that is going into a stall. I don’t think they have the ideas to fix that this Parliament.

However, I’m sure that the current government have something up their sleeves, already holding approx £50 Bn back, which will be used as bribery closer to the GE. Whether people are stupid enough to accept it, and them, is another debate.
